Very interesting option Jul 07, 2010
By R. Axel A very interesting option. The bottle is soft silicone. It holds its shape, but is squeezable. It takes a wide nipple; I am using the Avent nipples. So far I like this bottle a lot.
While I am not satisfied that even BPA-free plastic is without (as yet undiscovered) risks, I am satisfied that silicone is safe. And I feel comfortable putting silicone in the dishwasher, which I will not do with plastic.
I considered a stainless steel bottle, but I like to be able to see the bottle contents, so I kept looking, and found this.
The assembly is slightly more complicated than some bottles, because there is a firm plastic piece that fits over the top of the silicone bottle, to give the collar something to screw onto. But I am not finding the assembly difficult at all. It hasn't leaked yet (which is a problem with the Avent bottles) and my infant son seems fine with this bottle.
Update: We have used this bottle for two and a half months now. I ordered another one of these. And I tried the Prince Lionheart silicone bottles, which as far as I can tell are exactly the same thing in other colors. I have had no leakage problems whatsoever with these bottles. I have now cleared out my extensive collection of Avent bottles and will use this type exclusively.

fantastic bottles Dec 04, 2010
By A. Kurtz Our daycare would not allow us to use glass or stainless steel bottles. We were in a bit of a pickle because we didn't trust that other chemicals from bpa free plastic would leach into the formula especially when heated. The silicon bottles are a wonderful answer. They are not too hot when heated unlike the glass and metal and you can read through them unlike the metal. It may be our imagination but we think they may also reduce gas since the sides of the bottle collapse as the baby sucks. We have tried both the green sprout and the prince lionheart silicon bottles. Both are great but green sprouts wins in my opinion since the lid is relative easy to use unlike the Prince Lionheart bottles which have really irritating lids. Our top rated daycare also loves them!

Great Bottle!!! Dec 27, 2011
By Tanna My son started out as a breastfed baby. But after not being able to latch correctly and the hour feedings at 2am, I decided to switch to pumping and try a bottle. We tried countless bottles, all vented and anti-colic with the same result, he would always choke and spit up. After coming across this bottle which is not vented it seemed more suitable for my son. He hated the nipple, but I loved the bottle, so I switched out this nipple for the MAM silicone nipple which he preferred and we, at last had the perfect bottle. From then on, there was no more choking and spitting up and I was very pleased with the silicone, rather than plastic. I've had these bottles for well over 8 months now and I can't imagine trying anything else. I even plan on using these bottles with my next child in the future. These are the best bottles.
Here's a solution to the design flaw in this bottle Apr 28, 2012
By Ann R. Dr. Brown's protective bottle sleeve 8oz (comes in a 2-pack) is a silicone bottle sleeve made for glass bottles. I decided to experiment and see if it would fit this bottle and keep the collar from separating from the silicone base. It works beautifully! I've been using it for a few months with perfect results. At first, it seems tricky to put on. But really is not hard to do if you squish the bottle, insert into sleeve, and then pop the bottle back into shape. The sleeve fits nicely over the plastic collar of this bottle, and makes it almost impossible to have an accidental separation of collar from bottle. Make sure the collar is fitted properly as you pull the sleeve over the collar.
I was concerned that crud would build up between the sleeve and the bottle. This has not happened at all. Since it is a bit annoying to get the sleeve onto the bottle, i did not want to have to keep taking it off to clean the bottle. I have not had to. I can clean the bottle effectively without removing the sleeve.
Hope this helps someone...
