Sturdy piece of Furniture May 19, 2012

This was bought to complement the crib. While the crib had the varnish smell for about 4-6 days, this dresser was pungent and needed much more time! Thankfully, I have not yet given birth and so had ample time to air out the room. I bought cedar blocks (normally used for the closet) and it worked. However, it was so strong that it took 3 weeks to fully air out. I kept leaving the door closed to the baby's room so that I could 'test' it.
I also put some drawer lining sheets underneath the drawers b/c I suspect that's where it's not fully airing out. Having the cedar blocks in the drawers was fine but underneath the drawers is what I fear may have been holding up the process altogether.
Oh, today, I scratched the surface with my ring today. Hmm...bummer.
Guess it's just normal wear and tear. If I wanted something that wouldn't show whatsoever, I should've gotten natural wood with no varnish!
Otherwise, this is just beautiful, well made and basically came assembled.
My husband and I are truly happy with our purchase. Especially now that the smell is gone!!
