5Amazing Versatility  Aug 29, 2011
By In Search of Value
We got the Vista when we were expecting our second child. Our oldest was going to be 2.5 when his younger brother was born and already liked walking so I didn't want a dedicated double stroller but knew I would need a double stroller some of the time. For my needs, the Rumble Seat is perfect. Most of the time I use the stroller as a single or with the UPPAbaby PiggyBack Ride Along Board but if we're going to a busy part of town or will be walking a longer distance than I use the Rumble Seat.
I've been pleasantly surprised with how maneuverable and easy to push the stroller is with the Rumble Seat on it. My son is around 32 lbs and in the lower seat so I was worried the stroller would be off balance but it's really not bad. It's less maneuverable than a single stroller for sure but that's not a fair comparison. Compared to a true double stroller or even some other tandem strollers on the market it's great. I have no problems pushing up ramps or up over curbs even with my close to the weight limit son in the lower seat and my infant in the main seat. I also don't have problems over brick or cobblestone. If you're using the rumble seat it will take two hands most of the time to push it but I think this is pretty typical of any stroller with two children in it.
Finally, I was worried my son wouldn't like sitting in it because his view is obstructed but that hasn't been a problem at all. At times I thought it would be nice for the seat to recline because usually my son is in the rumble seat when he's too tired to walk anymore but the lack of recline hasn't stopped him from falling asleep in the seat. And then having a seat that reclined would just make the stroller heavier and more cumbersome and take away from the flexibility of this option that I like so much.
Having lived with this for several months I'm so happy we made the decision to go with the vista + rumble seat instead of buying a new double stroller. I don't think this would work well for twins or for babies much closer in age, but for us with a toddler who likes to walk and an infant this has been the perfect choice.

4Not a bad solution for a double stroller  Jul 30, 2010
By Lindsay Krussow "Lindsay"
We bought the 2008 Uppababy before we knew about the Rumble seat. When we found out about it, we were quite excited. Our second child is now two weeks old and he sits in the main chair tilted all the way back. Our 21 month old daughter sits in the rumble seat. She fits fine - though she is on the small side - 22 lbs or so. We told her it was the "Big Girl Chair" so she wouldn't be sore about losing her usual spot to her brother. She thought that was pretty cool.

The Rumble Seat takes up a good amount of the cargo basket for foot room for the child sitting in it. The stroller's handling also gets much worse with all the weight of a second child out in front of the front wheels. We find this better than having a double wide stroller, or having to buy a new stacking double stroller. We also like that the Rumble seat goes on and off easily - so when we just have one child we take off the rumble seat within 30 seconds.

The modification process for the 2008 frame was incredibly easy. You pay the $85 or whatever it is. An empty FedEx box arrives within a day or two. You put your stroller frame in it, drop it off, and it's back and modified a day or two later. We were shocked at how fast and easy it went. It's not obvious what they do to the stroller - we believe they may reinforce the welds for the bar that the rumble seat brackets straddle. It's the small rod that the cargo basket material wraps around in front.

All in all we are quite happy with the rumble seat. It certainly has its drawbacks, but we're content to use it and don't plan on buying a different double stroller.

3Hard to push at top of weight limit  Jun 14, 2010
By Kelly
I chose the Vista stroller because I thought it would be great as both a double and a single stroller. I loved that when my son wasn't using it, it wasn't a huge side-by-side double stroller when I only had my newborn. My 3-yo is around 31.5 pounds, so below the 35 pound weight limit. However, with him in the rumble seat it is very difficult to push the stroller. I have to use two hands and quite a bit of strength to control the stroller. I've gotten to the point where I dread using it as a double stroller, it's just much easier to have my toddler walk at my side. Had I known all of this, I probably would not have chosen this stroller.

I think if your older child is much lighter than 30 lbs. you'd be fine using the rumble seat. However, I don't know what the appropriate weight would be.

That said, I do love the stroller as a single!!

4Great add-on product.  Aug 16, 2010
By Y. Lee
Just took the Rumble Seat out for a spin for the first time and I am really happy with the purchase. I was kind of worried after reading the negative comments about the handling of the stroller after adding the Rumble Seat but it performed well. It's harder to control but you're going from a single stroller to a double. I found it was easier to steer than other double strollers that I've tried. It even handles better than the single Graco stroller (which handled like a brick, ugh) that we had before we upgraded to the Vista.

The seat was very easy to click in and out as promised in the description, it folds flat so it's easy to store with the stroller in the trunk (taking up A LOT less room than a double stroller would), and I love having the versatility to go from a single to a double stroller as needed. It's really nice to have the option of a double stroller (I don't need a double all the time) without the bulk or weight.

Great product that delivers as promised.

5Love it!!  Oct 21, 2009
By Winegirl
We bought the rumble seat for our 2007 Vista. Our 2 year old fits perfectly in it with lots of lower leg room with still enough space to fit diaper bags and lunch packs. Highly recommend for anyone needing a 2 seater that can still fit in smaller spaces.
