MUST GET THE RIGHT SIZE; +++ range of movement; -- noisy velcro; -- scratchy velcro May 28, 2011
By Vahnee Honestly, I can't tell if I love or hate this swaddler. I've used everything from Aden+Anais muslin blankets, SwaddleMe, Miracle blankets, etc. While I love the simplicity of a plain blanket, my little Houdini can break out of it with enough wiggling, and recently learned how with my old-favorite, the Miracle blanket. At 6 months, she still rubs her eyes when tired hard enough to get upset and knocks her paci out, so I was willing to try another swaddler for a little longer, and willing to try something with velcro to keep her from waking herself up.
Now, if you don't like velcro on your swaddlers, you probably won't like this one. The velcro feels like it's just about everywhere, always getting stuck to itself in various way. There's velcro on the flaps, on the top of the foot pouch and two straps that wrap around your kid's waist. Like I said, a LOT Of velcro. And yes, it's noisy, there's just no way around it. Another gripe is that it's scratchy to me, so I feel like I HAVE to put her in a onsie, or at least a t-shirt, which is frustrating when the room is warm and I would be happy to wrap her in just a diaper. Even though the velcro waist strap instructions indicate that the straps don't have to overlap, the velcro would be rubbing against her skin if I didn't overlap them, which means more fussing with her to get it just right so there's no exposed hook-velcro on the inside. (I'm sorry, TrueWomb, but I HAVE felt softer velcro than this!) I can't imagine trying to use this with a newborn and multiple diaper changes at night, but maybe that's just me.
That said, I need to note here that you CANNOT SIZE UP with this swaddler. I tried getting a 6-9 month / large for my 15lb 5.5 month old, thinking she was just about between sizes, and was extremely annoyed when she kept wiggling out of it. I coughed up more $$ for a 3-6 month / medium and she couldn't get her arms free, even though she still had the great range of movement that the manufacturer advertises. I think I only got a month of use out of it, but hey, in parent terms, that's a month of sleeping better.
It's a bear to get her in this. While my other daughter learned to stop crying when I would get the Miracle blanket out, this baby seems to scream louder when she sees me with this thing. I really have to wrangle her into it, sine she stretches out like a stiff corpse when I try to fold her legs into the footpouch. Gah! Crunch her legs and half-pin her down with one hand while I try to wrap the velcro across, switch hands, push legs inside again, another fumble with the velcro waist straps on the other side, now she's standing in it and I have to tug it back up around her shoulders... *sigh*
And yet, she's blissfully content once she's actually in it. She can move her arms up and down, the snug footpouch curls her legs back up exactly the way she does in her deep sleep when not swaddled, and she sleeps just as well as she did in the Miracle blanket without feeling guilty for wrapping her up straight-jacket-style. For that alone, I'm willing to put up with all the velcro and the baby-wrangling, but be aware that YMMV (your mileage may vary).
And if you're a new parent: congrats on your new little bundle and trust me, it DOES get easier! :-)

Best yet! Apr 16, 2011
By nolamama Let me start by saying: yes, there is a lot of velcro. There, now we can move on.
My son is 7 months old. He has been swaddled since birth and has slept 10+ hours since 3 weeks. I swaddled him successfully with a popular swaddler that uses velcro up until 14 lbs, then I purchased their large size. Unfortunately, the small was too small, but the large was too large (and there is no size in between). I tried not swaddling him for two nights in a row when he was 5 months old and it was miserable for everyone. So began my journey to find a swaddler that would fit a larger baby.
We've used 47x47" muslin swaddlers, the unnamed velcro swaddler (which we can make work, but both of our large ones have stretched out a lot and even though he is now 17 lbs (well into the suggested weight range), it is on the big side (it just keeps stretching as he grows), and now the truewomb. I have to say, the truewomb bothered me a bit at first because of all the velcro and because the fabric is a bit heavier than the unnamed swaddler which I thought might be too hot. It seemed really large and loose at first, and he could move around a lot, but he can't escape and still sleeps well through the whole night. The movement is part of the idea behind this swaddler, so I would say it works exactly as intended and is really great for us. Finally a swaddler that works for a larger baby, isn't possible to wriggle out of, and isn't stretching out!

Works well, a bit pricy Jul 03, 2011
By Matt Cowgur This is a little bit expensive for what you get, however, it is a wonderful product. My 3 month old sleeps in it every night and most naps. Don't buy the summer infant cheapo swaddler. After 4 weeks of use it had 5 rips in it and it bunched up around my babies neck on 2 occasions before I tossed it, I should have known by the way she fussed when we put her into it. My only complaint is that my daughter can kick her legs (she loves this thing and thinks it is play time when we put her into it) and it pulls down lower on her shoulders than it seems like it should. I love that she can move her arms and legs, just like in the womb, but cannot startle herself awake. I will be buying a bigger one when the time comes around.

Amazing!!!!! Oct 22, 2011
By CD My son has startled himself awake since the day he was born. He broke out of even the nurses' swaddles in the hospital. I used the Summer Infant Swaddle Me swaddles for awhile, but he started to get bigger and stronger. At 5 months, he still hits himself in the face and only lasts 1 hour if he is not swaddled. FInally, he began to scream every time he was placed in the Swaddle Me swaddles because they were too constricting once started getting bigger. I was excited to get this swaddle because of the ability of movement within the arm holes. My son actually smiles and visibly breathes a sigh of relief when he is swaddled in this swaddle. Hopefully, he will transition to regular sleep soon because he is able to move around a little more. He still gets the comfort of being snuggled up, but he is able to move. He loves his swaddle and does not break free or cry any longer.

Not worth the $ Mar 11, 2011
By se This is a nice swaddle sack, well made with lots of velcro and solid material. I think it's too much velcro as my baby startles every time I unwrap to change his diaper. It's a bit complex, but it does have great directions printed on the material, which is cool.
HOWEVER, this is not worth the money. The swaddle me and kidopotumus swaddlers do the same job for much less $!
