5Love them  Dec 31, 2011
By Andrea Miille
We have several of these plates, and they are pretty much the only plates we use. We have them in green, orange, and blue Tommee Tippee BPA Free Section Plates - 2 Pack (BLUE). I saw the 3 star review and thought I'd better chime in. The reviewer said they purchased them for a 7 month old (that they are still spoon feeding) and they were bigger than expected - that doesn't warrant a 3 star review. The product description recommends 9m+ and says it has deeper sections & angled feature for easy (self) feeding. We started using them when our son was beginning to feed himself, and they work especially well with the silicone easi-mat (couldn't find them on Amazon). The mat is made of silicone; the smooth side sticks to the table or high chair tray very well, and the top side has a suction cup that will attached to the bottom of these plates, or the bowls Tommee Tippee 4-Pack Explora Weaning Bowls - Boy or Tommee Tippee Explora Weaning Bowls 2-pack with Lid & Weaning Spoon - Orange. The suction cup is pretty strong. Our son was probably about 18 months old before he could pull it up. Our son is now 28 months old, and these are still the plates and bowls we use almost exclusively. If you are looking for something that works well for spoon feeding, especially if you don't use a full jar of baby food at a feeding, the Tommee Tippee food pots work well. I didn't find them on Amazon either, but Babies 'R Us carries a wide selection of Tommee Tippee products both online and in stores.

3Great plates  May 18, 2012
By Two Pretzels
Great plates - however, read carefully - these plates do not come with the Tommee Tippee no-slip mat. For some reason I assumed they did, my error and not Amazon's. Not sure I'd buy the plates again if I knew the mat wasn't included.

1Suction doesn't last long  May 06, 2012

Just so everyone knows, you need the explora easy-mat if you want to try using the suction feature of this product. Also, Target sells these exact plates for $6 (I bought mine yesterday on sale for $5).

I bought these plates in green the Tommee Tippee easy-mat because my 9 month old enjoys feeding himself, but has a hard time picking food up from his high chair tray (too slippery and the food slides around). I opened them and tested them out as soon as I got home. I was impressed that after putting the mat on the tray, and then the plate onto the suction cup on the mat that I could lift the entire tray only by holding the plate. I thought this system was powerful and would be perfect for my son.

So, for my son's next meal I set up the plate in front of him while I heated up his food in the kitchen. I was gone for maybe 30 seconds and my son already had the plate free. I thought maybe I didn't suction it very well, so I put the plate back in place, tested it, walked away while keeping an eye on him and sure enough, he had the plate free again in less than 30 seconds. So, I tried again, this time adding a little moisture to the suction. That helped a little, but literally a minute later my son had it free again.

I still had not given up yet though. I tried using the system again this morning... same thing happened. My husband even tried and our son had the plate free in 30 seconds. I'd really like to know how the other reviewers don't have this problem. My son can't get the mat off the high chair tray, it's just the plate that he can remove. I feel like I've wasted 11 bucks now. I'm sorry, but I like to use the things I purchase, even if it wasn't expensive.

This was a great idea, but does not work. If you're going to try it, purchase from Target though.

3Section, NOT Suction; Not for us  Feb 17, 2012
By britzman "britzman"
I did a quick search on amazon for Tomme Tippee "Suction plate" (and bowls) .... I am glad I read a review that said to purchase these at Target or Babies r Us for half the price not only because it saved me a bundle of money, but because in store when looking at the packaging I realized that they didn't have a suction device on them. As the other reviewer stated, you need the easi-mat (which still isn't on Amazon, oddly enough) which sticks to the solid surface and then you stick the bowl or plate to the mat.

I bought these on the recommendation of a few friends who love the system for their babies. We were trying to get our 10 1/2 month old daughter used to picking up her food off a plate, but we didn't want the plate (and food) to go flying. The other suction bowls we tried were by Munchkin and they were terrible, she got them up right away.

Anyway, it look her longer to figure out how, but before she was even halfway done with her food, she figured out she could twist the plate and break the suction. Maybe I just have a really resourceful daughter, but these are not working for us.

I've just ordered some suction bowls from The CaliBowl company (for some reason I can't find the bowl in the product link, but just search "calibowl suction" and you'll see them). Another friend told me these are manufactured in California, not China so I had to give them a try for being awesome and creating jobs in the US. I should have them next week and will review them once we try them out!

3bigger plates more for older children with bigger portions  Jul 14, 2011
By Michelle L. Barrette
I thought these plates were going to be a little smaller. I think they are a little to big for my 7 month old at this point in time. I wanted a small dish with three sections to feed her three different foods at about an ounce each portion. These plates will hold almost 7 or 8 ounces I bet, so my small portions will be so shallow it would be hard to spoon feed. I guess when my baby gets older these will be better with her finger foods and larger portions, but until then I will be looking for another smaller plate to use. Oh and the fact that the non-slip base is not included just means that my cheap little plates just got more expensive, more than I was looking to spend. Oh well, the pink color is nice...
