Velcro tab is very rough and left scratches on my baby's face Aug 12, 2010
By SPQ After buying the original woombie and getting a little annoyed with how hard it is sometimes to fasten the zipper from the top down on a squirming baby, I decided to get the organic one, which boasts a 2-way zipper. It was indeed much easier to put on since you can zip it up from the legs to the chin, but after the first use, I saw that it left scratches on my baby's chin and cheek. I thought it might since the velcro tabs used to cover up the zipper was extremely rough. They should have stuck with the smooth round snap closures that were on the original woombie. So now I am back to using the original one until I can find some time to remove the velcro tabs and sew on a different kind of closure.

Ugh! This is a Preemie size!! May 31, 2011
By Isaac J. Porietis I ordered this as a gift. Just received word from the recipient that it is Preemie Size. It doesn't say this anywhere in the main descriptions, but I just noticed it is on the model number under product specifications! They already washed it and put it on baby, so I cannot return it. Luckily she is only 18 inches tall and weighed 6 lbs so it is barely fitting her. This product needs to put the Preemie size in it's description. Oh, and the logo is already falling off. I LOVE woombies in general, so I rated it as 4 stars as it does what it is meant to, just the sizing is not clear. And it's sold by amazon, so go figure.

Good product if it fit...Woombie sizing doesn't make a lot of sense Sep 30, 2011
By M. Woodhams This is a great concept but poorly executed in sizing or adjustability. We purchased the regular newborn size for our pre-term baby based on weight according to the sizing and it turned out to be absolutely huge and didn't work as intended. We figured he would grow into it and bought the preemie size to use in the meantime. Even though the weights indicated overlap for the two sizes, the preemie size was too small leaving us without a workable solution after a few short weeks when he outgrew it. There should be a size in between to transition as babies grow since the difference between the two is just too large to make a transition unless your baby packs on like 5 pounds and half a foot in a few weeks. There is no way to adjust the woombie at all to fit your baby. If it's not snug, it defeats the purpose. It works only in a limited growth window.
As stated, the preemie is too tight, and the newborn could be knotted under his feet with some to spare and fit two of him in the width with the material elasticity. Now he is the size of a normal newborn and the newborn size is still too large to work right.
Do what we did and watch the video "Happiest baby on the block" by Dr. Harvey Karp and learn how to swaddle correctly with a blanket (among other valuable things that really work for a "colicky" baby. You may find your baby is not colicky at all, just not many people realize how to properly calm one.) This guy is the Cesar Milan of babies. You watch and think "this will never work" and then it does. There is a little learning curve to the proper swaddle, but if you are diligent it will pay off bigtime in being able to soothe your baby quickly and get some quiet rest time.
Also, an advantage to swaddling with a blanket is being able to keep baby's arms at his/her side so you can trigger the calming reflex. I know I did it right when he goes limp and calms right down. Our baby was able to work his hands up in the woombie (even when it was tight) and touch his face through the cloth and startle himself into a fit in 10 or 15 minutes. When we get a good swaddle, we can get him into the swing or cradle in under 5 minutes and he will sleep until next feeding. The first time we were able to go between feedings (maybe after 2 or 3 tries) it felt like some kind of baby calming magic.

Love it - Love it!!! Nov 01, 2010

I was skeptical to buy this after reading a few reviews on the Woombie, where people stated it was easy for the Velcro to scratch the baby's face. I went ahead and figured if it scratched my baby, I would just fix it somehow... however I have never had a single problem with it and I have been using it for a couple months now. I love it! Absolutely! First off, my baby was 5mo and 17lb so I bought the extra large one for 20-25lb, Organic with the 2 way zipper. It was a little big, but it still held him in and he loved it. My boy is a kicker, so sometimes he would kick his legs and stretch it so much, that it would end up pulling the front down over his arms. All I had to do was unzip the bottom and let his legs out and the problem was solved, it still held his arms in place, which is really what my baby likes. I can also change his diaper by just unzipping the bottom, but I don't too often. I used to use a blanket to swaddle him and it was a hassle, but with this, it is a easy as a zipper! He does sometimes wriggle an arm out, but he has still never gotten hurt from the velcro or any other object on the Woombie. I can put him in there after he falls asleep as well, no hassling around with anything to wake him up. And he knows when I lay him in it and zip it up, its time for sleep! I don't know why the others had a problem with the velcro, but all I know is that it worked beautifully for me and I heartily recommend it! I looked around and read reviews for hours on different swaddling blankets and items and I am so glad that I chose this one!
Very nice! Nov 05, 2011
By Kelly E. Helleson This snuggler is very small but fit my 7 lbs baby well. Not too small but small enough to keep her hands from getting out the neck hole. She was 7 lbs and about 20 inches when I used this for her. It was a perfect fit so I couldn't use it long until she'd outgrown it. Still, worth the cost to keep my newborn happy ;)
