 Princess Flatware - cute and easy to use Dec 07, 2010

The First Years makes some really useful products for children, and these are no exception. They've got a wide variety of licensed characters that are sure to please any toddler. My 11 month old Angelica has an easy time using the flatware and I don't have to worry about her poking her eyes out - the fork tines are blunted but still easy to spear food with. The spoon is more shallow than an adult spoon, but that makes it easier for her to scoop with. I know from experience that a deeper spoon would be a whole lot messier! Angelica's recently taken an interest in Disney princesses, so I ordered her this set because she doesn't have it yet.
While I am pleased with the product, I was disappointed that I did not receive the flatware pictured. (Aurora on the spoon, Cinderella on the fork.) I was sent a set that had the heads of Cinderella, Snow White, and Aurora on the fork and spoon. While it would have been a nice surprise because Snow White is not often featured on princess products, it was a let down because we already have that particular set.
So, 4 stars for the product, but 1 star for not getting what I thought I would. It would be nice if the seller would note that styles will vary - then the buyer would be forewarned.

These utensils are NOT the first ones I grab out of the drawer for my son, age 2. Yes, he likes the Cars characters, but the fork tines are too blunted to be used for what one uses a fork for.......stabbing food. The spoon is also pretty useless as the bowl is quite flat. All in all, I pretty much just give him these utensils for fun when he has finger food, since they are useless at picking up anything.

My son is just learning how to use silverware and loved these Cars fork and spoon. Perfect size for kids and durable.

These were a great price on Amazon and I wanted a few more metal fork/spoon sets for my son. He loves Cars, so I picked these. The designs are as pictured and he likes them a lot, but the "bite" size of the fork/spoon is a little smaller than some other metal fork/spoons I have purchased. I would prefer the larger size. My son is two now, but I think I will have to stop using these due to the small bite size once he reaches 3 years.

From the picture, I thought I was getting both a Minnie Mouse fork and spoon, but when the package arrived, it was a Minnie Mouse spoon and a Mickey Mouse fork. A little disappointed, but my daughter didn't notice.
