soft, large, strong -- the only swaddling blanket you'll need Apr 13, 2007
By R. Underwood We tried other swaddling blankets but this is the only one we use. We received it as a gift and bought two more. The fabric is the perfect weight for swaddling--large and tightly woven enough to hold our squirmy 9-pound-newborn baby firmly and warmly (not too warmly), soft enough that you feel good wrapping your baby in it (the organic cotton helps, too). If you have a strong baby, then don't waste your time with blankets made of T-shirt material, waffle weave, or the like; they stretch too much and baby's arms will be out in no time. A nice feature is that this blanket has a tag, well-placed out of the way of baby's face, that shows how to swaddle your baby in three easy steps (useful if you need a gentle reminder in your haze of sleep deprivation). The soft pile does thin a bit with multiple washings, but only slightly.

Good for swaddling Sep 21, 2007
By KC Mom I like the size, it's big enough to swaddle. I love that it's organic. But after a few washings the softness goes away and the fabric starts to bead up and get rough. It gets the job done and I still use them, just wish they stayed the way they arrived in the package.

Forget the swaddling blankets with velcro Nov 20, 2006
By egghead23 This one is the real thing. Comes with easy to follow instructions sewn right onto one side.
I love this blanket. First of all, it's the right size for swaddling 40" by 40", and the weight is just right, a light flannel that wraps baby up to be toasty and warm.
When I had my first child, I was easily frustrated by how quickly he broke free of his swaddle. For my second child, I found this blanket, and he never broke free. I used it for him and my third, and I give these to all my friends and relatives who are expecting. (I'm a bit of a swaddling zealot...pair this blanket with Harvy Karp's book or DVD "The Happiest Baby on the Block" -- it works!)
I always kept two on hand, for when one was in the wash. I only wish Amazon carried more than one color. There is another website that has them in pink, purple, blue, green and yellow.
Once baby outgrows the swaddle, the blanket continues to come in handy. It's nice and large, and makes a great shade over the stroller.
Quick Update -- My daughter is now three and still uses this blanket. It's held up through a multitude of washings, is still soft and shows no sign of wear.

Perfect size and gets softer with each wash! Feb 11, 2008
By Bibliophile@heart Yes, this blamket is a little pricey. But, it is one of the only blankets out there that is actually big enough to use for proper swaddling. Plus, it's really soft and not to heavy for babies to sleep in. Also, it seems to get softer with each wash!

Swaddle Blanket May 10, 2007
By S. Gillette This blanket works really well. We received one as a gift and used that one from the time we brought our baby girl home... It worked soooo well, we needed a backup! After the baby outgrows being swaddled, it makes a great lightweight blanket. It keeps it's shape and remains soft. We have used the first one for 4 months and wash it often. The colors are great too!
