3Stretchier than the Woombie, but give it a try  Apr 30, 2010
By MJ "sam"
I really wanted to like this, but my, at the time, 6 week old wouldn't sleep in it, and only fussed. We already had a Woombie, which she sleeps great in. Compared to the Woombie (newborn deluxe) this is stretchier and the neck hole is bigger. She gets her hands out and it's so stretchy that she can put her elbows up by her face, and both of those things annoy her, so all she'll do is cry.
The Swaddlepod is less than half the cost of the Woombie, so it might be worth trying in case your baby likes it, but the Woombie is much better for us. We might try it later when she is bigger. Right now, she is 8 weeks and 10 lb, 2 oz and 22 3/4 oz.
Editing several months later: My daughter turned 5 months today, and is still being swaddled (we tried to break her of it but she can't sleep without being swaddled.) So, I feel like we have become experts on Swaddle blankets. She did end up using this one some until about a month ago (until when she was about 12 lb, and we felt it was too short on her. She only used it when all her Woombies were being washed) We now use 3 Big Baby Woombies and 1 Summer Big Baby woombie (our favorite.) This would be perfect if they would put a snap closure across the top that makes the neck hole smaller so there would be no chance that baby would get their arm/hand out. And if they made it larger or in a bigger size. I would purchase it again if they made it in a bigger size now that she is close to 14 lb. So, again, give it a try b/c it is so much cheaper, but if it doesn't work for you, try the Woombie- you will love it!

5Swaddle Pod is convenient, inexpensive, and effective  Jul 03, 2011
By Im A Little Teapot
We had a Houdini preemie - she'd weasel her way out of her swaddle and wake herself up... until the Swaddlepod. This helped to calm her down to sleep and while the neck still allowed her to occasionally pop a hand out, she stayed asleep. We also loved the double zipper for middle of the night diaper changes! A few tips for parents that we wished we had known about:
1) When the baby is tiny (under 7 pounds), the Swaddlepod works more effectively if you put it on over a sleeper. Just putting your pumpkin in a onesie and a Swaddlepod will allow hands to escape. Once your baby chunks up a bit, you'll find it's easier to keep him/her snuggled up in a Swaddlepod.
2) Buy two. Or three. It's inevitable that baby will puke (oh, not my baby!), and you'll want to swap out your Swaddlepod. We found that the Swaddlepod stayed wet around the neck and was uncomfortable for her until we replaced her Swaddlepod for a fresh one. (And truly, as they are relatively inexpensive compared to the Woombie, it behooves you to buy at least two.)
3) Start investigating what you'll do after you've reached the weight limit for this nifty item. She is reaching the weight limit for this product and while she's now fitting into a Swaddleme, we wish that the company would make these in a larger size. (In fact, we've had several friends and relatives joke that they wish the company made these in adult sizes...)

5Awesome Design! Highly Recommended  Mar 31, 2010
By JennyLoving
We were originally interested in purchasing the "Woombie" but found this item at a lower price. It seemed similar enough, so we bought 3 of them! We are very glad we did. We have a 1 week old (10 pounder!!!) and this helps him sleep beautifully. It's easy to get on in the middle of the night, allows easy access for diaper changes, and lets the little ones move their arms and legs enough so they are comfy, but restricts them enough so they feel like they are truly in the womb. For this price, you really can't go wrong!

I do wish that they made a larger size as well, since it seems our little man will outgrow this fairly soon!

3Would be a 5 if there were more sizes!  Nov 16, 2010
By Kayle R. Morrissette
My son is an absolute Houdini when it comes to swaddles. He broke out of every other product we tried, the Miracle Blanket, the Summer Swaddle Sacks, and even swaddling very tightly like we were taught by the nurses at the hospital with every type of blanket imaginable. I was so scared when I woke up in the middle of the night to find him un-swaddled with the blanket around his face. So of course, I was so relieved when we found this product! It works great, I can change his diaper without disturbing him, and he doesn't get his arms out. The fabric stays well away from the face, and he has some movement of his arms without startling himself awake.
We loved this product, unfortunately, at only 5 1/2 weeks old, he is bursting out of it. He's a big boy, 8lbs at birth and almost 12 now, and the Swaddle Pod is just too tight. I purchased two of these so we would always have one on hand. I came back last night to buy some more in the next size up, and was SO dissapointed to find that the company lacked the foresight to make larger sizes for bigger babies. But, since this concept works so well with my son, I shelled out the extra money for a Woombie. They could have kept my business if they provided a larger range of sizes!
The bottom line is, if you have a small baby who can get out of swaddles, this is probably a great product for you. But unfortunately, it's not going to last you long, and if it is what works for your baby, you're going to end up with the much more expensive Woombie.

5Awesome  Sep 02, 2011

I own several of these and have been using them for the past month on my newborn. They're great. I had intentions of purchasing a woombie but decided to try these first since I could buy 3 of these for the price of 1 of those. My baby was 6lbs 7oz at birth and the swaddlepod fit him with plenty of room. I'm guessing he's about 9lbs now and it still fits him great, it's snugger but still has plenty of stretch to it. I'm always a little scared that he's going to get his arms stuck in the neck hole because he can still move around in it but he never has. The best thing about the pod is the bottom zipper that lets you change diapers at night super easily.
