Love it! Aug 31, 2009
By Amber After buying and returning 4 different audio monitors and 1 video monitor I tried this one and loved it. The monitors I bought before this one all had great reviews, but got really bad reception in my house. The best advice when buying a monitor to realize that you may need to try it at home and take it back. What works for someone else might not work for you.
Why I LOVE this monitor: 1. I can keep the TV in the living room and the separate audio in the bedroom. 2. No interference or static, but it still picks up very quiet noises (in my house, but you might not be so lucky) 3. Having video is the way to go! It's great to see what the kiddo is up to without having to go in the room. Especially great in a 2 story. 4. Decent size screen. I did try the more expensive handheld with a 2.5 inch screen, but if you set it down across the room you can't really see the picture. Also that one happened to get bad reception in my home even though it was the same brand as this one. 5. Infared 6. Wireless (TV monitor doesn't need to be wired to the camera like some old school video monitors) 7. Camera is easy to adjust to get a good angle. 8. I have used this in 3 other homes while traveling without any problems with the reception. 9. Great price. Some of the audio only monitors I bought were close to $100. This isn't much more and comes with video!
Cons: 1. The TV even the lowest setting is a little loud. I wish there was a lower volume without muting it. Although when you do mute it there are still lights that indicate the noise level so you still have a visual cue. The handheld audio monitor doesn't have this problem. 2. A couple times (maybe 4 times in a 1 year period) when we turned the camera off, but left the TV on we saw the faint image of another baby in her crib. Kinda creepy that others might see your baby. However this kind of interference is common with all monitors.
************************************************************************************************************** Update: So we've had this monitor about a year and it's broken twice! The first time we had taken it on a trip to Grandma's house and when we got home the video camera didn't work. No, I wasn't extra gentle with it while transporting it, but I wasn't rough either. I don't know how it broke. We exchanged it for a new one. Then today I had the video monitor turned on and when I went to lower the volume the thing gave me a little electric shock when I pushed the button. The TV then went out. Again, we exchanged it and discovered the AC adapter not the television monitor was busted. Weird. I still love the monitor and how it works for us, but I've had 2 lemons already! Come on!

Not worth it Oct 04, 2010
By Megan Shaw At first I really liked monitor. However I have changed my mind. If I walk between the monitor and the camera I get static on the picture. The volume is all or nothing. Yes you can turn it up and down but the quitest setting is still very loud. You can hear EVERY movement. Which I liked when my daughter was little but now is just annoying. She tosses and turns in her sleep which wakes me up. I ended up having to turn off the sound completely just to get a good nights sleep. The brightness is also an issue. Even the lowest setting is still really bright. Most importantly...I've only had the monitor for a year and I'm going to have to replace it. Baby #2 is coming and this one is not working like it should. The whole bottome half of the screen is black. When I first turn it on the upper half is blurry lines. After about 10 minutes it warms up and the picture is clearer but still semi distorted. Spend the extra money and get a higher quality one in my opinion. Otherwise you will probably spend more buying a second one anyway.

Lots of static Jun 06, 2011
By H. Breen This was the 2nd of 3 monitors I have bought. This one had lots of static and drove us crazy at night. Other than the static it is fine. The big monitor is old-school looking. Takes up alot of room on my night stand. After returning this monitor, we got a Summer Infant 2.5" screen monitor and I love it! I can take it outside while working in the yard and I don't have any static problems at all.

Great for the 10 months it lasted... May 06, 2011
By C. Mann Received this as a gift. The hand held never worked, but we never needed it so we didn't worry. Worked great for 10 months and then one day we turned it on at night as usual...just static. We've done everything to figure out the problem and finally called Summer to see about possible warranty or replacement. We didn't have the receipt 'cause it was a gift so they could replace the set for $85...that is for the exact set we can't just get the pieces we need. Too bad I walked into Walmart and saw the pieces I use for $80. For how much money my parents paid for that thing I would hope it would last more than 10 months just glad they didn't get the Lcd set. Thought this was something we could use for the next baby, but it seems their product isn't very dependable. Great product if your lucky enough to not have it randomly break...won't be risking anymore purchases on this company.

Disappointing Dec 15, 2009

We purchased this monitor and the TV blew out. We returned it to the store in exchange for a new monitor and that TV blew out as well. Don't waste your money.
