Adorable, but molds VERY quickly Jan 10, 2011
By C. Miller We got 2 of these for our twins b/c we loved the patterns, size, and price. However, within a few weeks of using them, they got gross brown mold between the liner and the outside. You can't clean it, so the bag gets permanently ruined. We tried hard to keep them clean and dry, but the mold quickly grew over all the seams and has spread to over half of the bags, so we have to throw them out. These bags would probably be fine if you only used dry goods in them, but any kind of moisture (like from an ice pack, leaky container, or condensation from a bottle) will ruin them, even if you try to keep them dry between uses. We are pretty disappointed and won't be buying anything from Sugarbooger anytime soon.

Very disappointed Sep 05, 2010
By cinnamon I am very disappointed in this lunch bag. I bought it for my daughter and after only one month of school it has molded between the outside and the insulation inside. I will never purchase another product from sugarbooger again!!!

moldy Mar 18, 2011
By Saamigirl This is the most adorable, excellent little lunch sack- except for the mold that has appeared between the lamination and fabric. Similar reviews indicate this is a common problem for this item. BUMMER! I will hate throwing it out. I will also hate having to buy a new one...and needless to say, it will be a different brand.

Beware the mold! Dec 02, 2011
By Bird As other reviews have stated, this bag molds relatively quickly, and there is nothing you can do about it. The only moisture in the bag is as others have said: an icepack a couple times, storing the items in the refrigerator, or putting a slighly wet container from the dish drainer in the bag. I air it out, but the issue has gotten worse.
It is really too bad as the bag is a great size, and has no zipper to break, just a hook-and-loop strip. I have written to the company, and I will update my review if I get a response, but in the meantime, I cannot recommend this bag.
ETA: The company wrote back to me, but seemed to think that the mold was a completely normal issue, even under the conditions mentioned. They sent me a replacement bag (which was nice), but weren't very gracious about it, especially considering that I did not ask for the replacement bag, only questioned if the mold was something that they were aware of and were working on.
As the company themselves seem to think it is normal, and not something they are trying to fix, I would have to say I cannot recommend this bag. It is really too bad as the size and ease of cleaning and opening for little hands is great.
just ok Feb 20, 2012
By jodisky I waited months before reveiwing this lunch box and I'm glad I did. First of all, it definately keeps the lunch cold. Secondly, after having this lunch box 5 months, it is beginning to wear out. The outside is "cracking" and the velcrow is completely not working. It is fraying. There are some stains on the outside that will not come clean. One addition thing I would like to say is that it is a bit small for your average kids lunch. You really cannot fit any plastic containers or soup thermos in it. This did not last the entire school year.
