I bought the tower despite the bad reviews and so far I think I made a great decision. I didn't buy it at Babies R Us, but chose another vendor instead that offered free shipping and ended up costing a bit less. I ordered the tower on 10/28/05 and it arrived 11/23/05, which wasn't a problem since I knew that Stork craft products tend to take awhile to ship, so I ordered early. The box came in perfect condition and when we took it apart all the pieces where undamaged, in great condition and there was nothing missing.
It took my mom and I (I am 5 months pregnant) an hour to put it together, the directions where easy to follow and the assembly was a piece of cake. The only difficulty is to screw on the back panel. There were a million screws, so have your electric screwdriver handy. Also be careful with those screws the tolerances are very close and the wood is soft so is you don't screw them in just right you may end up with screws sticking out. We simply redid them and now there are a few chips in the back of the tower, nothing to worry about.
Upside
* Looks absolutely amazing. The wood is beautiful and shiny, the design is elegant and looks great in the room
* The drawers are deep and allow for lots of storage. Easy to take out and are finished with white on the inside for a very clean and appealing look.
* The side cabinet is great. Shelves can easily come out to allow for larger items to be stored. Might be a good place for a diaper genie...
* Very sturdy and heavy, and as a bonus comes with a wall attachment so that you don't have to worry about it tipping when the little one starts walking.
* The top of the tower can be used as a changing table, or you can buy a hatch that can be easily attached for additional storage.
* Very easy to assemble, everything is predrilled and the directions are super easy.
Downside
* The wood is very soft, so you have to be careful during assembly not to chip or damage the pieces.
* While most of the tower is very sturdy the back panel is made out of flimsy material and the screws are a pain to use. In hint sight we should have nailed the back panel.
Overall absolutely great product. Functional and looks really beautiful. I suggest ordering elsewhere and ordering early, in case there are problems.

Great for the money! May 17, 2005

This is a sturdy, beautiful, functional piece. We purchased this combo, the hutch, 5 drawer dresser and Rochester crib. I put this together myself in about 45 minutes and I am 6 months pregnant. I have not assembled the hutch yet, since the nursery is not yet complete, but I can't wait to see it together! I am very pleased with my purchase. It looks exactly as shown, although the oak was a little darker than I expected.
I'll post my review on the crib when I get it together!

First of all, despite some of the other reviews I read I had no problems with shipping. The item was immediately delivered after I ordered it. The box and the condition of the pieces inside were flawless. We put this together in a couple of hours and I love it!!! The drawers are long and deep and hold a lot of the baby's things. I also love the side cabinet with the shelves. It is perfect for holding baskets and other items. It is very sturdy and good quality. This will be a piece of furniture my daughter will have for years to come. Especially once she is old enough and we are done using it as a changing table, we can purchase the hutch for additional storage.

 Storkcraft Not Worth the Headache Mar 16, 2005

My wife and I ordered this combo changing tower along with the matching crib and armoire, and we were EXTREMELY unsatisfied with ALL 3! All 3 pieces came with parts broken, and this changing tower came without a single fastener in the entire box. We returned the armoire and changing tower to try again, but when we got the second shipment in, we had the exact same problem again. The crib had enough pieces in tact that we were able to only order replacement parts. However, the replacement parts also came broken. In 6 attempts to ship us furniture, Storkcraft failed miserably all 6 times.

Pleasantly Surprised! Nov 02, 2005

I have never taken the time to write a review before but thought this deserved one. Like many people on a tight budget I scoured the east coast for a good deal on a decent crib! I was terrified after all the reviews, but felt I should try anyway. We got the crib, combo tower and the armoire and they look beautiful! There are a few things that you can notice if you look deep enough, but they don't look like anything more than flaws in natural wood. I put all 3 peices together myself at 33 weeks pregnant, with no problem and the directions were actually very good. No missing pieces at all!! We bought ours at Baby Depot, through Burlington Coat Factory, because I didn't want to pay for shipping and they keep it in stock!!!! BIG HELP! It fit in our Altima, and Baby Depot will replace any missing or broken pieces (we didn't have any) right from the store so no dealing with Storkcraft or mail. Our nursery looks great and we did it for roughly $700. Can't beat that!! Highly recommend!!!
