Takes a little longer Apr 24, 2011
By Kara I thought I would try this pump after returning to work and having trouble keeping up w/ my daughter's milk demand. It was the only pump on the market w/ a different design/ theory than the other breast pumps out there and since I wanted to continue breastfeeding my daughter, I was willing to spend the money to try it. Take my advice and DO NOT purchase this product until they have redesigned the suctioning system. First, it is EXTREMELY loud as compared to my Ameda pump. I couldn't believe how noisy such a little product can be. This product only worked well for me for the first week. It was very comfortable, but after that first week, the tubing didn't remain in place on its own (I had to hold it to maintain suction). Then after the first month, the o-rings on the suction tubing started to degrade creating another loss of suction... I went back to using my first breast pump. I'm extremely disappointed in this product and the money I lost for its purchase!!! Updated- 6-17-11... After writing this review and having all of the trouble that I did- I emailed the company w/ my complaints. They were extremely helpful and timely. My email was followed up promptly w/ a direct number to an actual person I could speak w/ concerning my issues. They sent two entire new tubing sets Fed-Exed the next day- no charge. I tried the pump again w/ the new tubing and was pleasantly surprised that it did work (and longer than a week this time), but it did seem to take longer to get the same amount of breastmilk as my other pump. I can't honestly say if this would be better over time/ continued use b/c my breastfeeding days are now over, but maybe as your body adjusts it might not take so long.

Wish it wasn't so loud Nov 05, 2010
By Megg It works as described and feels much better than the other style pumps. I've been using the Medela Pump In Style and it was pulling too much. There's no friction with the Simplisse. I haven't used it enough yet to compare milk volume. I found it louder than the Medela, and louder than I'd like -- not vacuum cleaner loud, but enough to have to speak louder and turn up the volume on music/tv.

Best pump ever!!!!! Nov 03, 2010

WOW! What a difference between other pumps out there! I am now pumping pain free and less stressed about breastfeeding. This pump feels like my baby is breastfeeding. This is a whole new experience; I cannot imagine using another electric pump. The breast cup is soft, no hard plastic like some other pumps. The pumping mechanism doesn't hurt and I definitely got more out of my breasts. Also is pretty easy to assemble. I would definitely recommend it to other breast feeding moms.

A pain in the butt! Mar 02, 2011
By MJ I was so excited to get a pump that would be comfortable to use. It really IS very comfortable to use.
However- that is where the pluses stop! It is so irritating to put it together. You have to get it *perfect* to get an air tight connection and good suction. Also, it only has good suction when you do one side at a time. When I put it on double barely anything comes out. I don't think I could use it on double anyway because you have to hold the tubing into the top piece for it to even work (otherwise it makes a ssssss noise). The plastic tops broke and I had to get new ones... which also broke (I got the replacement tubing as well and it only helped for a short while).
I wish I got a different pump. I am a stay at home mom and I use it at least once per day. I think if I needed to use this pump at work during a break I'd have thrown it out the car window a long time ago. I will definitely be getting a different pump for my next child.

Finicky, but good when it works (ETA: company fixed issues!) Mar 22, 2011
By A. Mooney I've had this pump for 2 months now. I switched from a Medela PIS. This one is much more comfortable, but half the time it doesn't work. When it does work, it's great, but I often end up reassembling the parts 3 times over to try and figure out why its not working, which wastes basically all of my pumping time. I honestly wish I had just replaced my Medela instead. It hurt me a lot, but it always worked. At this point I'd trade pain for consistently working and not having to constantly worry about my milk supply.
The company has great customer service--they have already had to replace my collection kit (bad seals that wouldn't stay in place) and the motor (stopped having suction in double mode). They overnighted me parts, no questions asked. They just need to work on quality control and getting the parts so they fit together the first time EVERY time. At this point I know how to put them together, but it's still a crapshoot as to whether or not they are actually together right.
Nice pump, but quality control and design issues.
ETA: They sent me new tubing and the tops (hard plastic and rubber seal) for the collection cups. The pump has *finally* been working regularly for the last 3 weeks. The little plastic clippy bits on the collection end of the tubing on mine had worn out and so the tubing wasn't being held in. They told me to put the tubing into the clear part of the cap (there should be a click, and you should not be able to pull the tubing out with a gentle tug). THEN put the white rubbery seal on. Keep this entire 3-piece section assembled and just snap it on and off the collection cups when you use them. The cap/seal does not need to be washed because it should never contact milk. Knowing this has made the pump work all the time, and saves washing a few parts
Also, definitely get the 'simple wishes hands free pumping bra' as suggested in another review. The cups have to be held snugly against the breasts for the massaging action to work well and the bra really helps.
