5Fantastic. No Problems. Wide Range. Well worth the money.  Nov 11, 2001
By apoem "apoem"
We got this as a gift at our baby shower two years ago. I am very glad we did. This is almost a MUST have for babies.

The range is fantastic. I can be outside watching my two year old while my baby sleeps. I know that I will be able to hear her. Not only is the range great but it also picks up the smallest sounds, I hear my baby rolling over in her crib when this is on. As an added bonus, I have not found this to be a battery eater.

In my opinion having a moniter is not the most important thing to have if you are having a baby. However, it is one of the more useful things if you want to have some measure of freedom while the baby is napping or if your child sleeps clear across the house from where you sleep.

5Very clear, and much cheaper than the inferior expensive one  Jul 27, 2005
By Kimberly Wells
I received a much more expensive model of baby monitor for a shower gift. I read the reviews online and saw lots of people complaining about static but at first mine wasn't static-y. For some reason, though, after about two weeks, the first monitor became very very static-y. I could barely hear my twin babies cry, let alone any of their softer noises. So I ordered this cheaper monitor after reading a number of reviews that said it was clear. I am impressed, not only with how clear it is, but with the sound quality overall and the much less expensive price. Not only that, but the old static burdened monitor did not have an indicator light to warn me when the battery was going low-- and in the middle of the night, my old monitor's battery died, shutting off the monitor. The "crysal clear" one has an indicator, so it warns when you're getting close.

Buy this one. Sometimes, more expensive isn't better.

5Don't let the price fool you  Jul 03, 2001

This monitor is great. It picks up all sounds in the room no matter where the monitor is. We bought some others later because they either were supposed to work at longer range, or scramble signal for privacy. They were more than twice as expensive and not even half as good. We returned them both. Try this monitor, you'll like it and the price. In fact, I just had baby #2 so we bought another one for the convenience.

5Great for the price  Sep 16, 2001
By Christopher J. Ricciardi
My wife and I received two monitors from our baby shower, this one and a much more expensive one. After testing each one we found that this one easily out-performed the other hands down. The range was incredible, I got tired of walking before I lost the signal. I would recommend this monitor to anyone especially at the price.

1Bad Quality Control  Dec 01, 2010
By Eric B. Fox "Fox"
We've been through three of these. Two were total junk out of the box. One worked very well.

The first one we got didn't work at all. It was totally useless. The static was so loud we could barely make out noises from the babies room. But, we sent it back and exchanged it for a new one. The new worked great. So, we ordered another one for the other kid's room. This 3rd one was total junk. So, 2 out of 3 were junk. But, the one that did work, we really like. For me, this explains the mixed reviews on this product. Poor quality control.

As far as the one that did work, here are some more details about why I liked it.
We've tried a few monitors. This one had the least static. For us, static is the most important issue. We hate it. We use the baby monitors primarily at night, so that we can hear if the kids wake up in the middle of the night. If the monitors have a lot of static it keeps US from getting to sleep.

The next most important issue is unnecessary beeping. Some of the other monitors we've used periodically loose the signal from the baby's room, and then automatically reconnects after a few seconds. Each time they loose the signal they beep loudly to let us know. This always wakes us up. This can happen a dozen or more times each night. No good. THIS monitor does NOT beep when it looses the signal, or maybe it just never looses the signal... either way we're sleeping much better now.
