great cup but many places/pieces to clean Aug 30, 2010
By morganbaby i love nuby straw cups, both this one and the non-handled one. however there are a lot of areas to clean on this one, including the straw pieces. i use my dr. brown bottle pipe cleaner thing to slide inside the straws when cleaning. submerging the cup and lid into hot water will loosen particles of food that get trapped.
my one concern, when your child is teething. teething children gnaw on everything, and the handles & lid are NOT BPA free. my child started to chew on the handles and actually bit one of the rubber nubs off [i luckily got it before he swallowed it]. i have since put the handle cups away for after the "everything goes in my mouth" phase.
as for the drinking aspect of the cup, it isn't difficult to use. i started using these around 9 months and he had no problem. the straw uses compression to allow the liquid to come out, it also prevents it from spilling when not being used.
when reassembling, make sure you put the clear straw into the lid first, pull it until you hear a slight pop, and make sure it is over the hole. then push the white hard straw into the clear straw. it won't leak if you do it correctly.
overall, these cups are great if you are tired of helping your child lift up the sippy cup. the cleaning of them is just part of enjoying a product that let's your child drink independently. and cleaning them doesn't really take any more time than other cups i've tried.

My daughter's favorite cups Aug 18, 2010
By Kindle Mommy These are pretty much the only cups my 2-year old uses. We have never had any trouble with leaking. I like that they are completely BPA-free and they are pretty easy to clean. My daughter only drinks milk and water, so when she drinks milk with her meals, we just make sure to rinse out the straw parts right away (I like them to be very clean). Other than that, we clean them with soap and water and put them in the dishwasher. :)

Not too happy Apr 09, 2010
By T. R. Manning I was really attracted by the design of this cup. I was looking for something my son wouldn't have to tip up to drink from since he is just starting out, and can't get his bottle up in the air. It's a nice size, and the handles are perfect, he took to it right away. The problem is that he wasn't really able to drink out of it. He got a little bit, but became really frustrated. After washing it, I tried it out myself, and it really isn't easy to use!! It relies on using your lips to squeeze the straw and then sucking to get the water out. No wonder he got frustrated! I am going to keep it around, and keep trying here and there to see if he gets it, but I wish it was a little easier for him to use.

Cute little sippy straw cup! Aug 09, 2010
By Margarita I was reading the other reviews and I disagree that you can't take it apart to clean. My son is 11 months and he's been using it for about a month. He did need to learn how to use it since it's not a simple straw cup (which I'm glad since he can't get this one to leak! Other straw cups that are easier to drink from just leak everywhere!)
The flexible part that comes out the top can be pulled through the bottom and cleaned thoroughly (you need to pinch the top while you do it to release the suction--I use a nipple brush to get in there!) and it threads back through when you reassemble it (a little jiggling gets it through since it's just a tiny bit wider than it's slot--and being silicone it's squishes easily!)
The bigger version of this is assembled a little differently, and I prefer the design on this one for cleaning and size.
The kidlet has dropped (and thrown)this poor cup quite a few times and figured out how to "flick" the top so the little bit left on the tip either flicks in his face (which makes him giggle) or heads in our direction (which isn't too bad and he giggles a bit more)
I really like this cup! It's sturdy, cleans easily with disassembly (the bottom clips into the handle base, too) and most importantly, my son uses it very well and likes it. :)

horrible!!!! Mar 31, 2011
By Lindsey This cup leaks everywhere! I hate it. Plus it has a million parts to clean. The straw isn't that easy to clean either. I hated this sippy cup and my daughter hated it even more.
