Naturepedic Waterproof Portacrib Pad Jan 18, 2010
By A Rebel Gator Momma We have the Naturepedic crib mattress, as well as the Naturepedic waterproof crib pad. We have the full mattress pad on the mattress, then the portacrib pad over that (we have portacribs at both grandparents house, so we bring this pad along). I would say that unless you are buying the full-sized crib waterproof mattress pad to protect the mattress from dustmites, I would recommend the portacrib pad. The portacrib pad is much easier to take on and off since it doesn't have the elastic corners to deal with, which means you basically have to take the mattress out of the crib to put it back on. The BEST combination would be to have your mattress, the portacrib pad, and zip sheets- Then you never have to take the mattress out of the crib to change the sheets.

Great product with only 1 problem May 10, 2010

I love the texture, the softness of the pad. It is totally natural and that for me gives me a sense of safety and security. We bought a mini crib, and we have a normal mattress - we tried to get a naturepedic or other brand, organic mattress, but they only sell pads (which don not have the firmness required for an infant). The only problem I had with this pad was precisely the lack of elastic corners. Infants move, and if the pad is not secure enough, it will move as well, creating a risk of suffocation. I bought large elastic at a craft store and sew it to the corners, so the pad would be well attached to the mattress. Despite that I still think it is a fantastic product, and I actually have 2 of these.

Not as Expected...But Good Sep 29, 2011
By Monkey Mommy I purchased these hoping to use them to line our Graco Pack and Play with them. We planned to use the bassinet portion of the pack and play for our newborn to sleep close to our bed until it was time to transition him into our room and I wanted something waterproof and not full of too many chemicals to put between his mattress and the sheet. These were not an exact fit and didn't stay flat under the sheet. We ended up putting them over the sheet and tucking them in. We put a large thin receiving blanket over the pad for softness and tucked that in also. It worked while the baby was small. Now that he is bigger we have these under the sheet of the mattress. It is still large enough to cover most of the bed and easily covers where he sleeps and spits.
BUT despite these not exactly fulfilling their anticipated role very well, they've been great for under blankets everywhere else! Even with a blanket beneath our little one, he can spit enough to damage carpet, our bed, grandma's couch etc. We use these everywhere to keep our baby from soaking through.
They wash and dry well, but be sure not to put more than one into a load of laundry; They work well to line the washer too and can block the machines spin cycle.
NICE Dec 13, 2011
By kinkysuga I really think this is a nice pad. It has no smell whatsoever and fits the portacrib mattress well. To keep it flat while I put on the sheets (Naturepedic portacrib sheets) I stood the mattress up inside the crib and layed the pad over the top of the matress slightly then put the fitted sheet on top. While smoothing it down I continued to attach the sheet at the bottom. Worked like a charm and no wrinkles or puffy sheets. I may like it better if it were fitted but this is fine and washes and dries easily. I washed on warm/gentle and dried on low heat one cyle..Done!
Great and extremely absorbent Dec 09, 2011
By Anna Egorova Just like the other Naturepedic pads, this is very absorbent and very soft. We use it for baby to play on naked and she pees and poops on it like crazy and it never leaked. You can hang it to dry when it's completely wet and not even bother to wash it - it won't smell. The poop is washed off relatively easy, too.
It's a big one, too, we first used the bassinet pads of the same brand and now she's outgrown them and we bought a bigger one. Will probably get a second one to have an extra. The only downside to this pad is the price, I think it's the most expensive on the market from the organic cotton brands, but I havent' found anything better on Amazon yet
