 There is no perfect stroller May 17, 2011

There is no ideal stroller, that would fit all the possible wishes perfectly. That being said, Mutsy is not an exception, it has it pros and cons. I still selected it out of all the possible choices because of the criteria that was important for me.
With my first child I had a Bumbleride Flyer, that pretty much fitted the bill for the all around stroller, except that I was not happy, and sometimes purely frustrated, with its steering. Also the switching from front to back facing position didn't work smoothly, as the stroller wouldn't always lock the other pair of wheels from swiveling.
Therefore, with my second baby I decided to splurge on a big-wheel stroller promising a smooth ride and easy steering. Having a bassinet would also be nice for a winter baby.
Mutsy is indeed a pleasure to steer, and I can do it with a one-hand. It's a sturdy stroller, and suspension is very decent too. However, the reason why I chose it over other strollers in its class is the seat. Pretty much every other stroller (Boogaboo, Stokke,Uppa Baby etc.) disappointed me with a tiny seat, that not only wouldn't lie flat, but is constructed in such a way that the baby's feet in recline are always up, and the bottom down. Perhaps, there is a reason to such construction if all strollers go for it, but it didn't appeal to me, and I am not sure how healthy it is. Mutsy 4Rider has a nicely sized seat that goes nearly flat, and no "feet up" thing
For these advantages (the ride and the seat) I had to pay with a number of inconveniences of the Mutsy 4Rider:
1) The size and weight. The stroller is bulky and heavy, so it's a nightmare if you need to carry it up and down the stairs or put it in the car trunk. It also takes almost all the trunk in our Toyota Camry. I am thinking to buy a separate Citi Mini stroller for those car trips.
2) The folding is difficult. You really have to learn how to fold it, it must be an exact movement otherwise the stroller wouldn't budge. But even without it, it's not an easy fold. In most cases you need to first take off the bassinet and seat (it only folds with the seat facing forward), lock it the stroller, and then use both hands to fold.
3)The button for reclining the stroller is very hard to press, I need my both hands.
4)Sun canopy isn't great, you need other accessories or extensions to ensure proper coverage.
5) Canopy is located pretty low, creating less space when putting the child in the stroller, also I am not sure how soon my child will start hitting her head on the "ceiling".
6) Storage basket is totally inadequate, so I was forced to buy a shopping basket accessory, which is not ideal either. Although it looks very nice in the demo, in reality it's often hard to reach inside, and with the stuff in the basket it's very difficult to install it. It's not really a basket for shopping, it's just an extension of regular storage which is minimal in Mutsy strollers.
7) Price. The stroller is among most expensive (around $700 for frame, seat and bassinet), and yet, you need to buy all accessories separate. I only bought 2 rain covers (for seat and bassinet) and shopping basket and it's already $130 extra.
8) Bassinet is very heavy too, and it doesn't have harness to fasten the child (just strap for carrying the bassinet), so it can be a concern when a child gets more mobile, but is still kept in the bassinet. Carrying the bassinet with the strap isn't very convenient either - the handlebar on the canopy like Uppa's would be better.
Summary.
Pros:
- Rides smoothly, one-hand steering
- Good suspension
- Sturdy
- Big seat
- Almost flat recline + several reclining positions
Cons:
-Bulky
-Heavy
-Expensive, and need to buy separate accessories
-Difficult folding
-Small storage basket
- Low sun canopy
- Canopy not large enough for proper sun protection
- Difficult to recline the seat
- Bassinet is heavy, can't be carried comfortably, and doesn't have harnesses.
Despite the many drawbacks I am still satisfied with my purchase because of my priorities (the easiness of the ride and the comfortable seat). Once you dished out the money and made peace with the storage, the most annoying ongoing concerns would be the stroller's size, weight, folding, and the sun canopy. Having a lighter stroller for outings when a car or other transportation is used can solve the first 3 problems, and I still have to find a solution for the 4th.

From the moment I saw this stroller I wanted it. It was a little difficult though because I could not try it out before I bought it. I finally was convinced I would not be happy without it and found a good deal on myStrollers.com I got the really nice lime green color and I am very pleased. I've had it for 4 months now and I use it for everything, I even put my baby moses basket on the seat laying flat so that it was easy to move around the house and made my baby sleep inside of it until she was 2 months. Because it can recline flat I took out the straps when my daughter was a newborn and sort of used it as a bassinet. Now I am happy I didn't waist my money on the bassinet that you can purchase as an extra. I also have the car seat adapter which makes it so easy to snap from car to stroller.
Pros:
~Easy to snap seats in and out
~Great maneuver ability
~Flat recline
~Easy to store it standing up while collapsed and can be pulled while collapsed
~Handles adjust up or down depending on your height
~Basket size is good.(My diaper bag is pretty big and it can fit in there. But I usually attach the bag to the stroller handle bar so this gives me more room for other things underneath.)
~Everything can be taken off to make it smaller when loading in the car (wheels, seat, canopy etc.). (My husband drives a sports car so you can imagine the lack of trunk space, but it still fits.)
~Very stylish
~There are many add-ons you can by for this stroller, so it can grow with you child

(I prefer to put Wishes than Cons because they are not that huge to me.)
Wishes:
~The canopy could be a little bigger for sun coverage and have the option to pull back all the way to make it easier for baby to look to the sides and see out. Making the sides with a see through screen would be a better option
~The collapsing is a little different but what do you expect from a high end stroller. Just remember that the hooks on the bottom of the seat have to be in front of the thin crossbars in order for it to collapse properly. I had trouble with this but I finally figured it out.
Overall I think it is a great stroller, definitely would buy again and recommend it to friends. I don't think it's too heavy or bulky like others have said but it's a matter of opinion.

UPDATE: October 2011
It's been one year since I bought my stroller. I still love everything about it, but I will add a Con. The stroller does not stay 100% together when collapsed which makes it a hassle when picking it up to put in the car. I have learned to deal with this but when going on trips and traveling other people don't know this and always think it is going to open up, this makes it VERY uncomfortable. While traveling to Europe one of the airline workers thought that it was opening and pulled it up causing the metal bars on both sides to break out of the plastic. I think this could have been avoided if it had some type of clasp to keep it closed when it is picked up. Mutsy said they didn't sell the plastic part separately and that I would have to buy a whole new base that was going to cost me $320. I was very upset about this and even though it was the airline's fault I still think that without the gap it would not have happened. I have reduced the rating from 5 to 4 because of this.

Living in NYC, my little girl basically lives in her stroller. We are always on the go and travelling to new adventures across this busy town. I have already gone through two strollers that just couldn't survive the wear and tear and a growing toddler. To be totally honest, when I purchased her first stroller, I really thought it would have made it through all of my babies. Now I see that spending a little more money on a stroller is necessary if you want to get many years of use and durability out of it.
I recently had the opportunity to review the Mutsy 4rider Light stroller and I have been blown away by the craftsmanship of this stroller. It is the Fararri of strollers and rides like a dream! My toddler, who NEVER sleeps in her stroller (which I always thought was due to the fact that she was just nosy) has fallen asleep quite a few times in her new Mutsy.
The Mutsy is very versatile. It grows with your baby and has a few different seats that accommodate various stages of baby-hood. At this point, it was not necessary for me to purchase the bassinet attachment, but for my future babies this will definitely come in handy. I do believe that this stroller is durable enough to last through ALL my babies (I plan to have a litter of them one day.) This is a great SOLID stroller built to last. (Plus, you can make it into a double stroller with their duo stroller attachment!)
I am a little taller than average for a female, and my hubby is even taller, so the adjustable handle works out great for us. This is one thing I didn't like about my old stroller, I always felt hunched over when I would push it around, meanwhile my husband refused to push it at all! He found it to be very uncomfortable. This is a feature I never took into consideration when I was looking into our first stroller.

I have tried so many different strollers and cannot get my daughter to stay in any of them. She loves to be buckled, but once she is buckled, she wants out and wants to be carried. I was fortunate to have a day with the Mutsy lightrider. I had purchased some things that needed to be returned, so I thought we would take a long walk and give this stroller a try and go to the local store. I was completely amazed how this walk was so much different from any other walk we had gone on. MY daughter was so comfortable and had such a great perspective on the world. She was waving to everyone we passed, blowing kisses, saying hi and goodbye. I called my husband once she started this-I put the phone up so that he could hear her, then picked the phone back up and said, "Do you hear that?" "Yes, dear-that was Sienna talking." I said, "We are out for a walk." Now he has experienced this screaming and demanding to get out of the stroller and has had to push an empty stroller and carry her for blocks back from the park, so he knew exactly what this meant. I painstakenly passed the stroller onto the next mom in line to try out the following day. To my surprise, my husband must have gone right online as soon as he had gotten off the phone with me and ordered one for us. A few days later, as we were playing in the backyard, I heard the delivery man pull up and went to our gate and he let me know he had a package for me. I opened it and was so excited to have my own Christmas in July! Thanks to us getting a chance to try out this excellient stroller, I managed to score my own!
