Works great/fast Dec 13, 2007
By S. Coffey Product worked fast, and seemed accurate based on the 4 bottles that I tested (two I suspected had alcohol, the other not). My husband accidently mixed a clean bottle with a potentially contaminated one, and the strips even picked up the alcohol in the mixed one. Gives a mother peace of mind. Seems a little pricey for what you get (I bet it costs pennies to make these), but I still like them. That's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

do what they're supposed to Dec 09, 2009

I originally thought these strips would work more like litmus paper - you know, a different color for the degree of alcohol in my breastmilk. Guess I didn't really look at the description thoroughly, but not surprising in my sleep deprived state due to my newborn. If you're not dipping the strip directly into milk, it's a little tricky to saturate the pad on the test strip, but once you get the hang of it, these work as advertised. As a heads up, the color can take longer to develop if you don't fully saturate the pad.

Great product Nov 12, 2009

I tried this product out for peace of mind. The first time I used a strip it was about two hours after I had a glass of wine and it showed the milk clean of all alcohol. I didn't trust it until I had seen it work with a sample I knew was tainted, so I tried it right after I had finished a few glasses of wine and the strip was very dark, so I feel good that I know it works. The strips are expensive but after trying a few samples, I feel better knowing that I can read my body to tell if my milk is okay to give to my baby. Great product.

These give piece of mind Jun 25, 2008

I don't drink very often, but when you breastfeed for a year and you have to go out to dinner with the executive types, and you want to have a glass of wine, you can do so with piece of mind. They always say pump and dump and wait so many hours after the beverage. But I was always torn between hating to waste milk and wanting to make sure that the milk was safe. With these, I can just check and see if the milk is safe. And you know for sure. It's not a quess. Gave me GREAT piece of mind. I would HIGHLY recommend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea... Oct 25, 2009

...but not necessary unless you're binge drinking and then trying to breastfeed immediately afterward. I've discovered that the alcohol gets metabolized out of your milk with time, so if you have 1 - 3 beers before you go to bed and then wake up to feed your baby 4 hours later, they milkscreen will show that it's okay. But if you want to be on the safe side, this is a nice tool to have.
