Beautiful fabric, but already had to fix the frame Dec 31, 2009

We love the "Wings" theme for our baby-on-the-way's nursery. Everything turned out perfect, and Lambs & Ivy really made a beautiful nursery theme with all the colors and mix of fabrics. The hamper is SO cute, we had to get it to go with the rest of the theme. But I agree with the other review, that the wooden frame that holds the hamper together is no good. The frame looks and feels cheaply made, which doesn't correlate well with the rest of the Lambs & Ivy products in this theme. Within two weeks, our cat jumped in the hamper (which we expect) and part of the framework broke. It was easily fixed with some wood glue, but a small cat shouldn't be able to break the frame on this product, especially for the price we paid. I suggest Lambs & Ivy come up with a stronger frame for the hamper, one that will actually withstand clothes being thrown in it... or a small cat for that matter :)
Five Stars for the Fabric Hamper, Three Stars for the Framework... Nov 07, 2009
By delicateflower152 Lambs and Ivy has again produced a quality product, with respect to the fabric portion of this hamper. Like the quilt and bumper pad in the nursery bedding set, the craftsmanship on the hamper is excellent. The company uses good quality fabrics of various weights and textures to create an item that has both visual and textural interest. Thus, I would rate the fabric portion of the hamper as a five star item.
I downgraded the product because of the quality of the wooden framework; that piece of the hamper rates only three stars. It is flimsy and very rough - there has been little attempt to smooth it out and there is no finish on the wood. This piece of the hamper would have been much better had it been made of metal and painted. I would have even accepted the wood framework had it been sanded well and finished, if not painted, with either a clear polyurethane or shellac. I also downgraded the item because it is not practical as one cannot put wet items in the hamper. It might be more useful if Lambs and Ivy were to finish the inside of the fabric portion with a waterproof lining.
Based on these comments, the framework and lack of lining would weigh more heavily were I able to award fractional stars. Nevertheless, averaging my two ratings for the hamper yielded a four star rating since I couldn't rate it three and one-half stars. This is another nice-to-have, but not critical, item for your child's nursery. If you are on a budget, then this may be one item you want to skip when furnishing a nursery. We found that the baby's clothes went directly to the washer when he was an infant. Once he gets a little bigger, I'm not sure he'll be any better at putting his clothing into the hamper than his dad is...
