Quick silver plus model does NOT have self- inflating mattress! Jan 05, 2010
By Leo's mom I just got the quick silver plus peapod kidco tent/ travel bed and was surprised that it didn't have the self inflating mattress... NOR a pump... its just the old fashioned blow by mouth air valve- and it's a pretty big mattress! needless to say, I'm returning it and getting the blue camo plus one which DOES have a self inflating mattress-for the same price. it's really too bad because I like the yellow- non-military non-gendered color much better-it was clear from ads that the red plus has a pump, but is not self inflating. The ad for this quick silver model was misleading- calling it the NEW mattress and the fact that it is model 203, a later model than 202 which does have the self inflating feature..
I didn't even set up the tent, so I can't review any other aspect of it.

great, but missing something... Feb 16, 2010
By travel bug We used the Kidco PeaPod when our son was an infant, and loved it so much that we decided to get the larger PeaPod Plus now that he's a toddler. We travel quite a bit, and it is the best travel bed! However, since our first one was red, we thought we would go with the yellow one this time. (Yellow is my favorite color.) What they don't tell you is that this one DOES NOT come with the sleeping bag insert, which is available with several of the other colors. I wish I had paid closer attention to what accessories were included before I purchased this one, because I would have bought another red one for that insert. It is so convenient to have that insert since it fits in perfectly, and you can just throw it in the wash. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it really is. Check out the other colors that have the sleeping bag.

Perfect for whatever life throws at you Jan 05, 2010
By Rachel Stevens We move frequently and go for months without my daughters normal crib and this takes the place when we are on the road and without her crib and it's perfect. I love that I can zip it shut and contain her (19 months old) and she can still see me through the mesh windows. I love that it's light and fits well in a suit case.
The smell of the fabric/plastic took a while to fade but it wasn't bad after leaving it open for a day.
We also use this as a ball pit, play house and a sun shade.
A great product and well worth the money (and shipping)

We love it! Dec 30, 2009
By C. Pentzien The PeaPod is great for my daughter when we visit friends and family. She's one now, and we've used it twice. I'm thrilled I purchased the larger size so she has plenty of room to grow and we can get the most use out of it over the years. She has lots of fun climbing in and out and sacks out great when it's time for a nap or bed. She's a restless sleeper, though, and has woken herself up with the noise from rolling on the air mattress. It sets-up and folds-up EASILY.

GREAT travel bed May 31, 2011
By whatever
"whatever"
This thing is great.
Pros
- Super easy to travel with. To keep it easy, before you go on a trip, be sure to:
a) Watch the video about how to fold it up!! Practice! Never force it! Pretty much just don't let your dear husband try to fold it.
b) Watch the video about how to fix it if it does get bent! Also on the KidCo website. Our tent "broke" while in Mexico and I almost had a nervous breakdown. We ended up dragging around this kaddywhampus tent, that would not fold down, shoving it in taxis and trunks, and getting it home forced into a suitcase. Somehow it survived all that and I was still able to reshape it. Voila. It works again.
c) Let your kid sleep in a couple of times at home. It is pretty different than a crib/packnplay. My pre-schooler begged to sleep in it (but he can just sleep in bed with us). Our baby (who we wanted to sleep in it) wasn't so sure...
d) don't open it up in front of your baby. Scary magic, like those freaky clown-faced jack-in-the-boxes that jump out at them...
- PHENOMENAL customer service at KidCo
- VERY well made
Cons
- Would be better with a sheet insert. Babies (or my baby) don't like the scratchy bottom. But, you can easily just put a standard crib sheet on the mattress and put the mattress inside the tent instead of in the zipper at the bottom. Of course, this may not be as good/safe for infants. If I ever get around to it, I'd like to make a little travel sheet to go in it (just sewing up the sides of a sheet so there's a little sleeping bag thingy).
- Would be great if both sides opened up for access.
- Some people don't like that this one does not have a self-inflating mattress. I don't know. We're major campers and our "self-inflating" mattresses never do (you need to store self-inflating mattresses inflated - who has space for that??). We end up blowing them up. So this is only a bit more effort to blow up. I suppose it would be nice to save a few breaths and have it at least start to inflate itself. I also don't like the plasticy feel of the mattress. Seems like a thermarest style material would be hardier/less full of volatile organic compounds...
For the price though, this is definitely the solution for travel and camping. Ours fits inside our tent for camping/boating trips, and it fits in small hotel corners for front-country travel. We bring it to our friend/family's houses too, just to keep baby used to sleeping in it. Fits in a suitcase - even fits in our carry-on sized roller (with forethought and a bit of very tender squishing).
