Fantastic flexible gate option May 06, 2012
By arturo9 Simply put this gate is fantastic. We converted a living room into a large playroom for our child. The challenge was once he became mobile we had to find some way to try and keep him in that room. The two door openings are a 48 inch double door (two half doors) opening and a 78 inch entry way into the dining room. I searched high and low trying to find a gate that could fit the 78 inch opening. I tested out a bunch of the options at the local stores and was extremely disappointed in the quality of many of the major box store brands. I am a mechanical engineer so perhaps I was expecting a bit much from a baby gate. When I finished my online research the Kidco Auto Close Configure Gate ended up at the top of the list for meeting all my requirements (metal gate, secure wall fastener, easily removable, one hand operation and price). I was not disappointed on any front.
The gate is easy to install and was up and in use in under 30 minutes. The gate itself is metal and feels solid once secured to the doorway. It has four mounts that are screwed into the doorway (or wall) and the entire gate can easily be removed from and remounted in a matter of seconds (great for when you have friends coming over and don't want people having to open and close a gate. The hinge joints between each of the sections are a great feature. It really lets you adjust this gate to fit any kind of opening. The auto close feature with the magnetic catch work great and it truly is one hand operation which is not the case with a lot of other brands I tried.
We loved this thing so much we actually bought a second for the 48 inch door. In that case we purchased two 9 inch extensions and just didn't use the two 24 inch extensions that come with the gate. We are getting ready to order a third to close off a section of the patio for a summer play room. After two weeks of using both gates we couldn't be happier. I'm pretty sure most people looking for a baby gate, especially one for larger openings, won't be disappointed.

Great gate: Easy to install, safe and has wide opening Mar 09, 2012
By Edoann We recently purchased this gate for our infant and we are happy with this product. The gate is very easy to install and extensions can be added easily. This gate has a wider opening compare to the other gate that we got which we have to turn sideways to get through the gate (and I am a petite size). This gate can be used for odd shape spaces (like the one where we used it for) because it can be adjusted easily. We actually used just one gate plus two extensions to cover two stairs (one going up and one going down) and it worked very well. I must say that this gate is very safe because even our adults guests recently could not open it easily (but of course, once you figure out how to open it, it is pretty easy) so young children definitely cannot open it. It also closes automatically so you do not have to keep worrying about your infant or toddler falling down the stairs because you forgot to close it. Overall, we are very happy with this gate and we highly recommend it.

Awesome Gate Feb 16, 2012
By Online Guru I love this gate. I had an old Configure Gate (Model G80) and recently moved so I purchased this Auto Close ConfigureGate. The door section is a little wider and closes automatically. Super easy to install and a great value.
Try, try, again! May 11, 2012
By Beth I'm pleased to have found a gate that fits our very oddly-angled stairway.
However, when the gate arrived, I had it up in 30 minutes and was feeling pretty proud of myself until I tried to OPEN IT! Even with 2 hands it was a real struggle as I had to physically pull the gate apart about 1/4' in order to release the latch. Thinking I should have paid closer attention to the instructions, I went back and read that in order for the latch to work properly, the gate must be on a level surface. So I got a level, made a few minor adjustments, but still it was a struggle. Went back to the instructions a third time and read, "Slide back the locking button AND LIFT THE DOOR to open in either direction." Ah ha! Works like a charm(as long as two hands are available)!
Although I wish I could open it single-handedly, it very sturdy and secure.
Great for wide hallways but not so user friendly May 10, 2012
By JST We have a rather wide opening to block off so the width on this gate is perfect but it is not user friendly. Mounting it on the wall was a pain and then the lock system is a bit tricky. If you press to hard on the tab to lock it, it will get stuck. We had to use the back side of a hammer to get it back up. Once we got it back up, the magnet fell out. Without the magnet, you can lock it.
