4Great product, don't pay this price!  Jun 29, 2009

These locks are great. We have a very inquisitive toddler and so far they have kept him out of the cabinets. The key to mounting is be sure that the surface is clean and dry and measure at least twice before you put the sticky stuff on. Once you do that, you can NOT reposition it (not even a fraction), if it's incorrect you will have to pry it off and re-do it (will need to buy more double-sided tape at a hardware store).

Do NOT pay ~$42 for these, they are about ~$8 at Target, Babies-r-Us, etc.

3These work ok  Jul 07, 2009
By M. Moore
We have a new house and didn't want to put screws in our cabinets. These work pretty well as long as your really work to adhear them to cabinets to begin with.
I also got the magnetic kind and those my some was able to pull of at around 18 months. These have held up better.

5Work great!  Sep 30, 2009

These cabinet and drawer locks work great. Having installed both the screw-on type and these in the last 3 months (2 different houses), these are so much easier. And my cabinet doors are thin and screws would have gone most of the way through the doors. You still need to take your time to make sure both parts are in the right locations before you peel and stick the tape. They appear be very strong. One thing to note is that the latch part is substantially larger (top to bottom) than the screw-on locks that usually have only one thin piece of plastic and a small base attachment piece as opposed to the loop these locks have with a larger base piece. This was not a problem in the cabinets, but in the drawers I did need to trim the silverware tray to allow for the bottom of the loop and the bigger base piece. But after that - no problem.

4Easy to use and works great.  Jun 06, 2009

I bought and installed three of these latches about six years ago. Two of them are still going strong. The third fell off, but it lasted a few years before falling off, and it wouldn't have been difficult to reinstall.

They come with screws or adhesive. I chose to mount with adhesive. The main thing to remember about any adhesive mount is to use a clean surface and let it cure for 24 hours, which means do not use it right away.

My toddler son was into opening every single drawer and cabinet in the kitchen and he did not open the ones these were on. They do open a little, but the latch catches them. If you have small bottles or things that little hands can reach in and grab and pull out, you'll need a different latch. The latches are easy to unlatch. The secret is to never let the kids see how you open the cabinets.

Neither of my kids ever successfully opened the cabinets these were installed on. At this point, they are much older and they have no interest in opening the cabinets, but they have never gotten in; and your guests will intuitively know how to open the drawers, unlike other locks like the Tot-lock.

For very high risk drawers (for example, drawers that contain knives), I recommend Tot-lock. For ones you want to keep closed because the kids keep opening them and making a mess, these are perfectly fine.

UPDATE: If ever I had to buy this again, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Two of my locks have stayed on for seven years. One fell off, but it did not have a good surface to adhere to in the first place. The ones that are still going strong are used about once a day. Amazing adhesive strength.

5Yea no screws!  Jul 22, 2008

Works pretty well. A good hyge yank can pull the adhesive off, but you will hear that if that occurs.
