3Not loving it . . . yet  Jun 28, 2011
By Sarah R. Lambrecht "green music mama"
I had some Amazon gift cards saved up and thought I would go out on a limb and try out the Grovia system, after hearing my SIL rave about it. I ordered one shell with 2 washable inserts, along with the disposable inserts. Here's what I found:

The shell is great. I love it with prefolds and some less bulky fitteds. Never a leak, and very cute.
I tried the washable inserts and the disposable inserts, with my 1 month old baby. This just doesn't work with newborn poo. A normal poo goes beyond the boudaries of both of these inserts, and I had to wash the cover every single time. Not worth it. Now, if I had an older baby with formed poo, I think I'd really like this sytem. That's the case for my SIL.

Another thing is that the insert stained horribly after 1 use, with breastfed baby poo. All other prefolds, inserts that I own haven't stained that badly with a month of use. I did finally get the stain out with several sunnings.

The jury is out. I love the concept, but it didn't work for us . . . yet. I'll stick with my BG pocket diapers for now and maybe give this another try when my baby is a little older.

4My favorite Day Time Diaper  May 26, 2011
By Birdee
I just finished reading reviews, and I am one who is still using the old version of GroBaby diapers. I have been using them for 16 months and still love them. They are holding up so nicely. There is not one part of any of them that is falling apart. I never have odor issues (I use rocking green detergent - which I recommend). My son will be two in August and I have worried about the size. They for the most part are one size, but I don't know many cloth diapers that fit newborns. However I can see a larger child outgrowing these before potty training. Maybe they will continue to fit, they have fit my son longer so far than I thought they would (a girl I think will be different because it was the top of the diaper that was barely covering his pee-pee, but I don't ever have leakage problems during the day)
I own three types of cloth diapers, Gro-baby, Bum Genius, and g-Diaper. I love them all for different reasons, but after 16 months of cloth diapering, on a daily basis, I grab Gro-Baby for day and bum-genius for night with two soak pads. My g-Diapers hardly get used.
I am now expecting another baby in January so decided to look at more Gro-Baby diapers, and see they are now GroVia, and I'm totally excited to stock up on some new cute snap prints. I have a blog and totally recommend these diapers on my blog.
There easy to use, easy to rinse, easy to wash and dry, easy to assemble. I love that you have the option of disposable inserts (though I don't recommend applying the sticky part to the snap. I apply it to the netting of the inside of the diaper and it doesn't gum up the snap, but maybe they have changed that too) I just grab one shell and two inserts tucked in my purse for any outing and I'm pretty much good for a day. No need to carry a big bag full of huge fluffy diapers. I classify these as a luxury cloth diaper, tho most are anymore, I just especially think these are so easy, compact, user-friendly.
I can't say enough about them. No they are not perfect, I have yet to find any perfect diaper (cloth or disposable) but these are top on my list of must haves.

4Nice design made better  Nov 09, 2010
By pghmomma
I've been using these since they first came out. They were groBaby back then and I loved the concept of pulling out the insert when only wet and replacing it. The Grovia design has been updated to have a PUL back liner on the insert so it is less likely to get the shell wet. That makes switching out the inserts more realistic. I have no problems with smell as other reviewers have said. I also love that the inserts are so small compared to whole diapers making traveling and laundry easier. They also gave them a higher rise which improves the fit on older babies. Oh and the fact that they are all natural fibers and organic is the reasons i bought them in the first place. I really dislike the terry soakers of most "big" company diapers. I recently sent all of my aplix shells back to natural baby company to be converted to snaps. I like the snaps better although the new design does have laundry tabs to keep the aplix closed during washing. The old design did not stay closed and created a laundry chain everytime so that is a great improvement right there! I find that they are fairly trim and even when adding the booster they stay trim. But my son cannot sleep in them for more than a nap. They do not work for us at night. The colors are great. It seems that this is the only company that has more boy prints and colors than girl ones which is great seeing as I have a son! Plus they are so darn cute! I can't wait for the new prints to come out in December.

5My favorite diaper cover for prefolds  Mar 06, 2012
By KBart
In addition to this diaper cover, I have tried Thirsties duo wrap snap, Blueberry coveralls snap, and Rumparooz one size cover snap, all with prefolds. I definitely like this one the best! I've had problems with the thirsties leaking moisture, it seems to travel through the white lining at the edges. I don't have this same problem with the Blueberry or Rumparooz, but I don't like how bulky they are. (They are bigger than the Thirsties, since they are one-size covers and I have the smaller Thirsties size). This Grovia cover doesn't leak, is really soft, and fits very well on my 2 month old, even though it's a one-size cover. It's really different than the other 3 brands, because it doesn't have the inner leg gussets, and the inside is a soft net fabric instead of the plasticky feel. I would definitely recommend this as a cover to use with prefolds - I plan to buy more.

5Love this system  May 17, 2012
By Angela Lammers
I am so grateful to have a baby store that took me through all the different type of cloth diapering options. I chose the Grovia hybrid shell because they are soft and easy. All cloth diaper covers are bulky so you have to get used to seeing a big ol' diaper butt. I use the shells with Bummis prefolds or the biodegradable Grovia liners. I can reuse the shell couple times before washing it... it get's kinda stinky after a few times... I spray it with lavender water and let it air dry to disinfect to keep it going. I also started using the Grovia liners now that my baby has firmer poo. You just pick up the poo from the liner and flush it in the toilet. My husband loves this. How easy is that?!! I never put my shells in the dryer, I just let them air dry. I also use Charlies soap powder that I swear doesn't damage her diapers or clothes. I am so happy with this system. I have 8 shells and 30 prefolds and wash her diapers every 3 days. The insert liners are wonderful when we have to travel around town so I don't have to carry her prefolds that get smelly. It is pricey to invest (we asked for cloth diaper donations for our baby shower) but we have used this system nearly a year and other than accidentally throwing a shell out. It is all as good as new.
