The only way to cloth diaper! Sep 07, 2010
By Customer

I'm not a big reviewer, but I love GroVia so much, I will try!
Pros:
Highly absorbent soaker pads. Please note that they must be washed approximately 10 times in hot water to reach maximum absorbency. After that, they are a jewel. (Some customers complain of them not working, but this is simply because they have not been prepped!)
Very attractive shells (for those moms out there who want their kids to be stylish).
Ease of use. Remove the wet soaker pad from the shell, put a new one in.
Optional organic cotton inserts provide additional absorbency for those "heavy wetters" or for overnights.
Unbelievable customer support. The owner really cares about her product (and her customers).
The "one size fits all" feature is wonderful. Grobaby (the previous version) had a lower rise. This has been corrected with the Grovia line, which is wonderful for larger babies (like my own, who is 16 lbs. and not yet 3 months).
The new soaker pads have a waterproof lining on the bottom. This is an improvement over the previous (Grobaby version), as it prevents the shell from getting wet.
The new shells have laundry tabs to prevent the velcro from catching on other items in the wash. The older version did not have this feature. I never had a problem with this, so I can't attest to the added benefit.
You can purchase shells with velcro (my preference) or snaps. The snaps are thought to last longer, but I like the fit of the velcro better, and, GroVia is great with warranty issues, if something arises. You can even have the velcro converted to snaps if you prefer.
I actually use a snap shell for swimming (without the soaker pad, obviously). It works great!
The shells last through multiple uses. They take very little time to dry. If poo happens to leak into the shell (which is common with breastfeed babies, it is unavoidable), they can be rinsed off successfully and air dried in a few hours. Obviously, you wouldn't do this with the soaker. That needs to be washed. ;O)
Caring for them is much easier than I anticipated. I am a full-time medical student, and I don't mind doing one extra load of laundry every other day.
Optional disposable/compostable inserts. Great for travel!
You can join their facebook page and learn about upcoming discounts! I ALWAYS shop the sales, sorry Amazon.
Cons:
The organic cotton is sensitive to certain products, although I believe this is the case with most cloth diapers. You can't use desitin, for instance, on your baby's bum. The alternative is Magic Stick. It is a great product, lasts forever, and is easy to use.
The soaker pads may stain and/or obtain an ammonia smell. Fortunately, washing them appropriately prevents/removes the ammonia smell, and sunlight takes out the stains. Problem solved!
The soaker pads don't wick away moisture. Oh well, no cloth diapers do. I just make sure to change him every few hours.
In my dryer, soakers take 80 minutes to dry on regular heat (but I also dry them with the All-in-one version which is bulkier, so my experience is obscured).
I haven't been able to successfully use them overnight. However, there are MANY people who have. I used the alternative All-in-one version that is fabulous (even more absorbent than the All-in-two) until my little one decided that he couldn't stand being wet overnight. I currently use a disposable for this. Bummer, but he sleeps better...and so do I.
I have found that most complaints of this product can be corrected with a little bit more knowledge of how to care for it.

Good but smelly... Feb 22, 2010
By J. L. Francis

Pro's:
-Once the liners for this diaper have been primed, they are quite absorbant. I have not had any leaks.
-The construction of the diaper is very good. These have my favorite snaps and I love that the liner snaps into place.
-Velcro is great for quick changes, my husband apreciates not having to line up the snaps.
-They are very trim between the legs and the liners have a wide backside to them which is great for girls who pee a lot...My daughter.
-they work GREAT with the Gro-baby disposable liners.
Cons:
-The liners are on the rough side, and once they are wet they feel VERY wet. For some reason, (and this is since I've had them and not the result of a terribly stinky potty) they STINK! They smell fine when they are clean but the second my kids pee in them I become very aware of the smell. I have several other types of liners and do not have this problem. These create the most pungent amonia smell I have ever experienced in CDing.
-While these work very well for girls, they are not so great for boys as they get narrower toward the front. They tend to bunch up around the genitals and are not very comfortable for him. I would like to have more of an hour glass shape to them since I use them for both of my kids.

grovia diaper grew on me Aug 14, 2011
By K. Combs I am a mom of 7, daycare provider and nurse. I have tried many kinds of cloth diapers the last couple of years, including AIO's, AI2's, pocket, hybrid, etc. I have reviewed a few other cloth diapers, if you would like to see my take on some other brands.
I actually got my Grovia's from diaperswapper's. A mama there bought 8 of them, and discovered she hated snaps and wanted a velcro option. Grovia wasn't my first choice to round out my diaper collection, but for the price she gave me, I didn't care whether or not these would end up my favorites.
I felt the Grovia was a little awkward at first. The direction the flaps/snaps go in felt backwards to me and my husband. I wasn't sure I like the snap in doubler. I got "used" to the diaper, tho, and found myself using them equally with my Kissaluvs.
Eventually, I found myself reaching for the Grovia's first, and only using my other brands of AIO's as backup when I run out of Grovia's. HERE'S WHY:
-They have always caught EVERY mess. Not once has my daughters poo got on her clothes.
- They are very trim. I can get them snug enough on her chubby legs to be leak-proof without cutting into her skin. They are designed to fit slim babies as well.
- I can vary the absorbency by using the snap in liner.
- The cotton is absorbent and reasonably soft...and STAYS the same, wash after wash. What you start off with is what you end up with. Many other diapers start off really super soft and end up with piling and increased scratchiness.
- Easy odor control. If you read my review of Kissaluvs, you will see that I like them alot. However, they build up odors over time, and have to be "stripped". You also have to be careful with what products you use, as build up of soap/softener will decrease absorbency and cause leaks. The Grovia is LOW maintenance. I have not had the odor problem, nor issues with absorbency decreasing over time. They work as well now as when I first used them.
- Fast drying design, and safe to put in your dryer.
- Comfortable for baby, and no rashes, to date.
I now mostly use Grovia at home, and WeeHuggers when out and about. They are great diapers!
If you are new to cloth please:
-"prep" the diaper. Most brands tell you to wash and dry several times before use. DO THIS
- USe laundry soap recommended for cloth: I like Charlie's soap.
- Avoid fabric softener in ALL of your clothes. ECOVER makes a plant based product that you can use safely with cloth diapers, however. I have been using this for a couple of months with Grovia, and it has not decreased the absorbency (i think it does affect the Kissaluvs and make them leaky).
- If you get a stubborn odor, try soaking diapers in Bac Out, by Biokleen.

My Favorite Cloth Diaper!! Feb 14, 2011
By Jenna I own many types and brands of cloth diapers and these are my absolute favorite. They are ridiculously soft and adorably cute. One of my favorite features of this diaper is that they are SUPER trim. Most cloth diapers are bulky under clothing, but even with the snap-in doubler these look great under my 4mo old's cloths. Also, we have a heavy wetter and this is my go-to diaper for long naps. Finally, they are very dad/grandma/newbie friendly because everything is built into the diaper. No stuffing required! I can't say enough good things about the Grovia-All-In Ones and I recommend them to all my friends who are looking to try cloth diapers.

I adore it! Feb 10, 2011
By Sarah T. Why has no one reviewed these yet?
I am new to cloth diapers, so I bought some of everything to see what I like- prefolds, different brand covers, and several all-in-ones. The Grovia was amazing!
The cotton inside is soft and super absorbant, the outside feels silky-smoth, and the best part is my son, who is a heavy wetter, wore it for several hours with no leaks!!
And they somehow manage to be extremely absorbant without adding bulk. It is as thin as a disposable.
I am definitely getting more of these- just wish they'd come out with more colors.
