MY BABY GOT HIS HEAD STUCK! Apr 24, 2009
By H. Johnson
"Hollipie"
We loved this swing because it was small and the baby would sleep in it for hours. This swing was recalled in May 2007 due to an entrapment issue, but the model we had was produced AFTER the recall. However, my 4-month old son has gotten his head/neck entrapped between the seat and the frame in a "post-recall" Rainforest version of the Open Top Take-Along Swing, TWICE! It was purchased at the end of 2008 and my son was tightly strapped in but able to use his feet to push himself sideways and get his neck trapped while it was swinging. It is dangerous and was terrifying to see. Although our model was not included in the official 2007 recall of this swing, the problem has still obviously not been fixed...don't buy this swing, it is dangerous and not worth the risk!

Great Little Swing Jun 09, 2008
By Tolkien Momma I looked around for quite a while before purchasing this swing - our first daughter never liked swings or bouncy chairs so I was skeptical at first. I bought this swing because we have very limited space in our house and I liked that it could fold and go with us anywhere. Having a compact SUV, space isn't as much as issue when we travel, so we don't mind very much that it doesn't fold quite as small as the box would have you believe. Batteries last forever in this swing, it's great! It took Rosemary a couple of tries, but she was soon very happy in her swing. We love that we could move the mobile to let her see us or hang it over her head so she could watch the Rain Forest animals. The only reason I didn't give this swing 5 stars: the animals fall off the mobile CONSTANTLY. If you move the swing AT ALL, down they go. Of course, Rosie thinks this is wonderful because she can grab the froggy when it drops in her lap and then chew on him. However, it's not so wonderful when it falls on the floor and ends up covered in dog hair. HUGE pet peeve. Also, it says that you can use the swing until baby is 25 lbs or is "active" - they don't define this very well. Rosie has been trying to sit herself up for a long time and twice dumped herself face-first onto the floor because she was able to fold herself in half at the waste at JUST the right moment during the swing cycle. Since she was strapped in, she wasn't hurt, (suspended just above the floor) but it was still scary. If your child is smaller and less "active", you won't have any trouble at all.

Think about this before you buy it... Apr 26, 2009
By J. Bellucci I bought this swing when my daughter was 3 months old. We were traveling and I knew I couldn't bring our big swing with us. But being gone 10 days I didn't know what I was going to do - this swing was a lifesaver at first!!! She was 3 months old (about 12 or so pounds) had good neck control and loved swinging. It worked great...but she looked so tiny in it! We used it on the go then as the main swing and at home placed it on the 2nd floor for a secondary swing - worked great. HOWEVER...we traveled again when she was nearly 6 months old and while the swing works great and the motor doesn't even have to be on the highest setting (5). I can no longer place her in it - its just NOT safe. She was fussing so normally I would put her in the big swing and she'd calm right down...I put her in this swing and she stretched out so her feet were at the bottom (metal area that is covered) which gave her just enough umph to wiggle...and her head got went off the swing right in between the part where the swing attaches to the base. Had I not been there watching her and the swing kept moving she could have been SERIOUSLY injured as her neck would have been between the two parts moving and smoosh. :( Do I recommend this swing? If you have nothing else to get and need something in a pinch for an itty bitty perhaps. BUT I'd say you have to absolutely watch your little one and when they show signs of movement remove them from the swing and put it away. THat means you don't get much use out of a 60-70$ item. Ways this swing could be better? In stead of a 3 point harness system it could have a 5 point harness system over the shoulders perhaps preventing the children from having the ability to move as much.

Swing is ok, but be careful... Jul 17, 2008

My mom bought this for our first daughter to use at her home and it worked great! But we now also have twins and one of them can turn herself nearly sideways and get her head stuck between the swing bar and the support bar. It only takes a minute for her to do it... She can be sleeping soundly for 10 minutes in the swing, I leave the room for a minute, and when I come back she's turned sideways and is getting her head crunched. My first daughter didn't have this problem and neither does my son. Just be careful.

I have another fisher price swing that plugs into the wall but it's very big and not easy to move so I got this one. I love it and my son loves it!! it puts him to sleep and kepts him content. I truely couldn't be more pleased. It's not to fast on the low settings. My son 13 lbs and I usually but it on speed 2.
