If you love wool but want something a little less bulky than a thick wool soaker during the day, you will love these nappy pants! These are the thinnest, most lightweight wool diaper covers we have found, and they work wonderfully well. These breathable wool shorts are so trim that you can fit any garment over them with hardly any bulk at all. They are trim but still have the absorbency and moisture-repelling properties of wool. This merino wool cover is very thin, lightweight and single-knit, so it is ideal for daytime use and is great for hot summer days. This cover fits nicely over any pre-fold or fitted cloth diaper. Because this is a single knit, thin wool cover, we do not recommend using this during naps or overnight. You will need to change the cover more frequently than you would with a thick, double-knit wool cover. This particular cover is not designed for night time or nap time use, but rather for daytime use and times when you are able to change your baby's diaper on a regular basis. Please keep in mind that wool is not waterproof like synthetic covers, but it is extremely absorbent and contains lanolin, which naturally repels moisture. This cover will stay dry longer the thicker and more absorbent the cloth diaper layer is underneath. Wool provides excellent moisture regulation; it wicks moisture away from the skin and can absorb up to one third of its weight in moisture and return it to the environment. In addition, it does not soil or retain odors easily, so it does not need to be washed very frequently. Made by Engel, these nappy covers are 100% organic virgin Merino wool, certified organic by the International Association of Natural Textile Industry (IVN) and the Global Organic Textile Standard. This wool is finely crimped, does not itch, and feels soft and cozy against baby's sensitive skin. The Merino sheep are organically raised without the use of pesticides on neither the pastures nor the animals.

Great wool cover for daytime Nov 07, 2011

I love this wool cover! I purchased these for my son this summer after searching for a wool cover that was actually trim. I had tried a few other wool covers that are supposed to be "trim," but they always end up being too bulky to fit underneath his clothes. I really don't think a wool cover could possibly get any trimmer than this one. You just have to change your baby a little more often than you might with a plastic cover. It's super breathable & soft. This has become one of my favorite diaper covers, especially when it's hot outside.

Make sure you lanolize it first- I was a little skeptical at first because I did make the mistake of putting this cover on my baby immediately after I bought it (without washing or lanolizing), thinking it might not need to be lanolized, but I was wrong. It soaked right through. Once I lanolized it really well, it became an entirely different cover. It never soaks through now, though I still do change my baby more frequently when he wears it, since it is thin. For daytime, it's perfect. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for something lightweight.

I really wanted to love these. But I don't. We live in a super hot climate and I was searching for light weight wool covers that would be absorbent but breathable even in the heat. These are definitely lilght weight, but they absorb so little you may as well not have a cover at all! I have found that waterproofed all cotton covers work much better, preserving breathability but preventing seep through. Nikky and Niji all cotton waterproofed covers are my favorites.

Sckoon does a decent waterproofed cotton version too, but theirs is a llittle heavier and I find the pull on style awkward.

I have reconciled myself to the fact that given the climate wool is for night only and we'll have to stick with cotton by day.
