Dangerous ! Nov 02, 2009
By Kelly Grant
"Baby mama KG"
I gave my son one of these and it broke into small pieces in his mouth, within about 1 min. and he began choking. I had to assist him in order to remove it and it was very frightening for all involved. These are just way to easy for babies to break down.

Choking hazzard!!!! Aug 22, 2009
By M. Goldin be very careful with this product. I gave it to my 11.5 month old and she choked instantly! 3 pieces broke off in her mouth right away and I had to sweep them out of her mouth. Unfortunately, she still choked and threw up. :(

choking hazard - too thin and brittle Aug 12, 2009
By M. Scianna We love Earth's Best products, but these are simply too dangerous. We first tried them with our daughter at 7mo old. She quickly broke off nearly half the bar in her mouth. She is now 10mo old, and we still have the same issue. We cannot offer these to her any longer. Too bad. the ingredients are excellent. We don't have this issue with others such as Gerber and BeechNut.

These don't have to be a choking hazard.... Mar 27, 2011
By cheychey11 My son liked these after us both getting used to them.
I would say these are for infants who are teething and beginning to eat with their hands. The biscuits are really met to be sucked on and not really chewed well. So if your baby is at the stage where he is proficient at chewing and swallowing solids, he is beyond these.
Also, I found that if I broke one biscuit stick in half, it fit perfectly into my little guy's hand and he could take it to his mouth to suck on and bite. By the time he had bit it enough times to break a piece off, it was dissolved enough and small enough to not be a choking problem.
The box says not to give these biscuits to babies younger than 9 months, but my son started these at 6 or 7 months because he was getting teeth. I don't think he will be able to eat them much longer because he is getting more skilled at chewing and swallowing, and like I said before, these really aren't meant to be chewed all at once, but slowly sucked on and bitten.

My 16 month old and I eat these. Jun 06, 2008
By Diva's Mama My little one has been eating these since she was about 10 months old. She didn't like the wheat ones and frankly, I like these barley ones better too. Good thing they come in twos. We like to share them. It is a choking hazard but like most foods, you have to be vigilant and supervise. For some reason, I thought these that I received via Amazon were not as hard as the ones I got at the store. I was worried about the expiration dates since I ordered a pack of 12 boxes but then, I am eating them too so I'm sure they'll be gone by 2/09. What I find amusing is the "evaporated cane juice" that is listed in the ingredients of health foods these days (not just these biscuits). Isn't that simply sugar? Aside from that, I thought these were healthier alternative to a lot of toddler snacks out there anyway, so I gave it 4 stars.
