Independant Childcare provider Dec 12, 2000
This is a grreat toy. The kids love it. It is better than it is better than the wooden version. This one is much more quiet. The kids learn eye hand coordination and have a great time. I would suggest this to any parent. It is even great for the older kids, even 4 yr olds love it.

Fun simple toy Jul 12, 2007
By Nonfiction This toy is straightforward and fun for a one year old. Teaches hand eye coordination and the hammer and balls are also fun on their own. Your child does not need to color match for the toy to work. Any of the balls can go through any of the holes.

Pound 'n Play Apr 26, 2008
By Rachel Schmitt I got this for my son for his first birthday. I looked at several ball pounders, and decided on this one based on the recommendations on this and the others. This one is simple enough for a one year old to be successful pounding the balls through the holes (and he doesn't have to match the colored ball to the colored slot). He seems to really enjoy this toy, and appears to understand the concept of placing the ball in the slot and hammering it through. I have no complaints about this toy, and would easily recommend it for a young toddler. (Just watch out for the occasional hammering on you or your pets.)

Average toy for the price Oct 06, 2008
By JadeBailey24 We purchased this product for my son's first birthday. It is a decent toy, although he received a better toy that essentially does the same thing. The balls on this toy are a little hard for my son to push through the holes at the top. He still does enjoy playing with it, but I would recommend the Fisher-Price Sit Up & Pound Arcade over this toy. The balls are much easier for a one year old to push through the holes and it has fun music each time the balls drop.

Great toy Jan 31, 2009
By Toby A. Lyles This appears to be a very simple toy, but it isn't. The box that the balls fall into has a slanted bottom. When the balls are pushed through, they travel to the opening where a child can pick them up.
The hammer, while sturdy, is not really helpful. My nephew found it more fun to push the balls through with his hands. (There is some resistance.)
Also, the slots and balls offer a chance to match colors as children do -- over and over again!
