Welcome transition from the baby bjorn! Sep 21, 2010
By Kari Prior to the birth of my son, I purchased a bjorn. It's lightweight, easy to use, and very handy when the newborn is crying and wants to be held when there's work to be done. The bjorn worked out great for the first few months; however, once my son reached 18 pounds and 27 inches it became really cumbersome to carry him out in front. His legs dangled down and I knocked into them when I walked and his head was at my chin, not to mention the added weight out in front which was focused entirely on my shoulders... Ouch! Since the birth of my son, I have become very reliant on product reviews. If I'm going to spend the money on something, I want to almost guarantee that I will love it before I buy it. This is where the Ergo comes in. I hadn't heard of this carrier before seeing it on amazon during my search for an upgrade to the bjorn. I watched the videos on the [...] website and decided that this would definitely be our new big thing. I love that the carrier allows for a few different carrying positions. I can carry my son on my hip, my back and my front. The design of the carrier distributes the weight between my waist and my shoulders, so I no longer have achy shoulders after a long day of baby wearing! He is wrapped around my waste, instead of hanging out in front like an extra appendage. When he falls asleep or just needs some quiet while we're out and about, the hood works great! I also appreciate the 2 zipper pockets, which I use for carrying my wallet, keys, and cellphone.

After many carriers, LOVE this! Aug 27, 2010
By Jenny I have seriously tried every carrier there is. My daughter probably liked some of them for a week at the most. I was getting exhausted carrying her around and due to my wrist issues I have gotten since delivery- I really needed to find something. I initially had the regular ergo and liked it...although it was hot, especially with the baby insert. I found out about the performance carrier and what a difference! I had such a hard time fitting the original carrier into the basket of my stroller, whereas the performance is not a problem. The material is a lot lighter and the should pads seem to be a lot less bulky.
I have just started putting my daughter in there without the carrier and it's going fairly well. I love the little zipper pocket where you can stash your keys and cash. I ordered the cargo clip that attaches to the front of the carrier as well. It's super easy to put on and get my daughter into. She's almost 4 months old and 16 pounds, after wearing a bjorn for 10 minutes, my back was aching....but not with this! Love it and highly recommend it to others. My only complaint is that I wish the top extended a little higher for my baby's neck. The shade cover is decent, but my daughter hates things on or over her head, so a higher backing would've been nice. All in all, I love it! It will be perfect for the humid, hot climate we are going to move to!

BEST baby purchase so far Oct 30, 2010
By laura hensley I have tried almost every other carrier since my daughter was born 7 months ago, Moby, Snugli, Bjorn, Infantino, and slings... I wasn't really able to use ANY of them except the Ergo. I was in a major car accident in 2007 and have back and neck injuries that make it painful to lift more than 10 lbs, which is difficult since my baby is about 16 lbs and is the kind of baby who wants to be held constantly, especially when we're out. EVERYONE kept recommending the Ergo, at first I was hesitant to spend the money but the bigger she got the worse my back got. If you're worried about the money, just DO IT, trust me, this is the single best purchase I've made for my baby. I don't feel any weight or pressure on my shoulders, back or neck. The weight is comfortably distributed on my hips. My daughter loves it, too. She tolerated other carriers but she will actually sleep in this one. She loves to be on my back while I do chores, or on my hip while we're out shopping. I'm wearing it right now, she's sleeping soundly while I type this, which before would be impossible.
I chose the Performance because after trying the original and the sport, I found this model to be a good compromise between the two. The original was a little too bulky, and the sport was not quite as comfy. My ONLY complaint/suggestion is that this may not be the best carrier if you are very small. I'm 5'6" and have a very small thin frame and sometimes it feels too big, like it might slip down off my shoulders. I have to do quite a bit of adjusting after my husband uses it. It is VERY adjustable but I have it pretty much at it's smallest so I dont know how it would fit someone smaller or shorter.

Do Not Purchase!!! Sep 01, 2010
By NaomiD I ordered this newer, lighter, and more compact ERGO thinking it was going to be as good or better than the original ERGObaby carrier. I only ordered this one instead because it looked better and I liked the color. I was very disappointed when I tried it on with my 4 month old baby. The original ERGO is very comfy and the design and fit are perfect. This performance ERGO was not comfy at all, not for me or the baby. The material was uncomfortable on my shoulders while wearing a tank top, the design does not fit well to carry your baby in the front, and my baby was not able to put her arms out due to the design of the front being so high up. Maybe it would be a better selection for a bigger baby or toddler for carrying on the back. I'm not sure...I just know that the original ERGO it such a better design and my baby is very comfy in it. She fell asleep in it the other day while me and my husband were shopping at sports chalet and she usually gets really fussy and never is able to fall asleep being held, so I was very impressed with how calmly she dozed off in the middle of a loud store. That's how I know how comfy she really is in it. So my advice would be, go for the original ERGO. It may not look the coolest, but your back and your baby will love you for it.

LOVE IT! Aug 17, 2010
By M. Luce Love this new Ergo Performance. It is so much cooler than the original Ergo. The straps are contoured and makes it so much more comfortable than the orginial. There is also a extended waistband so there is no need to buy the waist extender if necessary (it wouldn't work on the Performance anyway). I have also heard that you can take this Ergo in the water but I have yet to try it.
