5Great style and value!  Jun 11, 2009
By Darcy
I debated for quite some time whether or not to puchase this crib. I had read on various blogs all the issues there were with the DwellStudio 1st addition crib and was concerned. That said, don't be. The second addition has none of the issues the original bloggers wrote about in 2008. Target switched manufacturers and the crib is now made by someone new. No issues whatsoever. I would move forward and order it, you won't be disappointed.

Ok now for the review of the crib...I love it for it's modern style, contemporary lines and overall value. I paid $212 (on sale in the weekly ad). The wood pieces on the side (natural) are of very good quality. The railing wood pieces (white) aren't as high of quality as that of the natural wood, but still fine. The color of the wood was not as light as depicted in the picture online, mine was more "orange" that the picture shows. It sill is natural, it just isn't as white / light as in the picture. I'll post pictures on the amazon site of the finished product.

The crib was relatively easy to put together as long as you take your time. It took me about 3 hours for the crib and another 2 for the drawers (I did those the next night). At first I thought they had forgot to include the manual, but it is located in the spring box. Also, while all of the pieces arrived in perfect condition, the package containing the screws etc. must have opened in transit so they were scattered a bit in the box. Luckily each piece of the crib is individually wrapped and the screws didn't come in contact with the wood. Also, no screws were missing, everything that spilled out was in one area.

At the end of the day my husband and I could have purchase an expensive crib from a furniture company but quite honestly I just fell in love with this style and couldn't get it out of my mind. The quality is good for the price. It is very sturdy after assembly. I would recommend this crib to anyone who wants style and is value conscious.

Finally shipping was quick and amazing. It is distributed out of a company in NJ and I happen to live close by, so from the time I placed the order (midnight on a Friday) to the time it arrived was only 3 work days. Incredible.

Enjoy your new crib, I know I will.

1NOT CONVERTIBLE  May 27, 2010
By veggiefleur "VF"
This crib is not actually convertible.

My review would be 4 stars (out of 5) if the crib was as advertised. I really like this crib. It is pretty solid and good looking. The drawers fall apart, but I have been able to make them stronger and they are now working fine. However, the crib cannot be converted into a toddler bed because you cannot buy the conversion kit.

Target's description says the guardrails are available from the manufacturer. They are not. The manufacturer told me in February that Target was going to start selling the guardrails itself "within the month". To date the guardrails are not available through Target, and when I called Target I was given no information.

If you are looking for a standard crib - this is a good option at a reasonable price. If you want a convertible crib, you'd best look elsewhere.

5Good quality for the price  Jul 28, 2009
By greent
We ordered the crib & changing table over a month ago, got it quickly, but didn't put it together until this weekend. I was worried about the quality of the products after reading some reviews on target's site, but I need not have. Both pieces are well designed and decently built. They are sturdy and at least a step up from Ikea quality.

I wouldn't call the wood stain "orangey" (like the previous reviewer), but it's definitely a lot darker than the picture. Note also that the drawers on the crib aren't the full width of the crib (they are approx. 3/4 the width of the crib), and that you need a bed skirt for the crib. The crib side doesn't lower either, although the mattress height is adjustable.

The assembly was definitely a bit of PITA, but got easier by the second piece (we did the changing table first, then the crib). It took us approx 5 hours to do both (with some breaks!). The instructions are easy to understand and every piece is well labeled. I didn't have any problems with defects or missing pieces.

At this price point, the pieces are definitely good quality and I'm sure will last a long time. If you are looking for a more modern style of baby furniture, but don't want to shell out big bucks for oeuf or stokke sets, then I would certainly recommend this.

1Very Poor Build Quality  Feb 08, 2011
By Jenny
We currently have two of these cribs in our apartment with the exact same problem. We have unbuilt the first crib, used the new crib pieces to re-assamble, and still have two unusable cribs. They both have a charger nut built into the wood with malformed threads and will not fit the standard screw required. We were directed to contact the manufacturer for a replacement screw. Weeks later and with poor communication we received a small postal envelope with the wrong pieces that did not even match the color of the screws included with the crib (they were also the entirely wrong pieces.) At this point we had Target send a completely new crib (since they can not send parts.) This crib is over 100 pounds.

The replacement crib sent was even worse. It had a big dent on one of the pieces. The second crib was actually MISSING holes that were not drilled where they were supposed to be. We had another issue with a charger nut again unforeseeable until the last step of assembly.

After assembling for hours we will need to return BOTH cribs. We were not offered any discount or assembly assistance through out all of these problems. It is not surprising they have discontinued this line (insight from the manufacturer-Foremost.)

1Terrible Construction, Color and Customer Support  Apr 18, 2011
By swasgrafx
Excitedly received this as a baby shower gift. Pictures look great, however... this is not a lightweight crib, not convertible and not natural wood. You need a wagon, truck or van to move this, over 70 lbs. packaged and terribly bulky. Color is a light orange, not natural, thankful that we failed at Step 1 in building the crib, the middle slots were not drilled correctly and NO REPLACEMENT Parts available. Nothing lined up, holes were pre-drilled incorrectly. So we're waiting for a UPS pick up and back to the shopping board.
