5Just GREAT!  Sep 09, 2003
By A. Young "aayoung"
As a new parent,I have to say that the Diaper Dekor Plus is a great diaper pail all around. Our little girl is now 11 months and we find the Diaper Dekor to be very convenient and almost completely odor-free.

I read a lot of reviews of the Diaper Genie and Diaper Champ before choosing the Diaper Dekor mainly because you can operate it with one hand (a big plus) and because the reviewers all said it handled odors well.

The Diaper Dekor is really easy to use. We have it right next to the changing table and all you do is step on the foot pedal to open the top, drop in the diaper through the swinging door, and that's it. Changing the bag is simple too: you just open the front door, spin the full bag a few times, cut it off using the cutter mounted on the door, and then tie off the bag.

The first bag refill that came with the unit just "pooped out"(ha ha) after 4 weeks of newborn diapers. Putting in the new refill was simple. My only minor gripe is that there is no way to know when the refill is getting near empty. It would be nice if it changed color or something so you know you will need a new refill soon.

Now that our little one is on solid food, the refills don't last as long, but the Diaper Dekor has handled the odor problem well. Yes, you can catch an unpleasant whiff sometimes, but that probably means you need to change the bag instead of trying to get "just one more in". And yes, you might wrinkle your nose a bit when you change the refill, but it's no worse than opening up a stinky diaper. Just change the bag fairly often and maybe put a stick up deodorizer in the bottom of the unit and you'll be fine.

I would definitely recommend the larger Plus model so you don't have to change the bag as often.

5A MUST FOR YOUR NURSERY!!!  Mar 01, 2004
By Heather Williams
We've had the Diaper Dekor Plus for 8 months now & I LOVE IT!!!! I read lots of reviews while pregnant as to which diaper disposal system was the best, & I decided to choose the Dekor Plus.

The baby's nursery is still set up in our master bedroom, so the Diaper Dekor Plus is in there as well. Now that he's eating solids, the mess in his diapers STINKS! But whatever is put into the Dekor STAYS in the Dekor! You never, ever smell dirty diapers in the bedroom. The only time you get a teeny, tiny whiff of smell is when you open the lid to put a diaper in, but even that is minimal because the liner is scented & due to the design, you really don't get any smell that lasts.

The design is SUPER easy to use one handed (important when you're holding a new baby with two hands or a squirmy 8 month old!). You simply step on the foot pedal & the lid pops up. There's a little trap door inside & you just drop your diaper on top of it & it falls into the pail. This trap door REALLY helps keep in the stink. That's all you have to do! The lid closes by itself.

The liners are not as cheap as others, but they last a very long time. We have the Dekor Plus system, & we've used it for 8 months now. Each refill box has 3 "packs" of liners in them. The liners are like one super-long trash bag. You tie a knot at the bottom of the bag & fill it up with diapers. When you're ready to empty the pail, you open the little latched door on the front of the pail & pull out the full bag of diapers. There's a cutting tool that you just slide the bag on to cut it, then you just tie a new knot in the new trash bag & pull it down to make a new pail bag. This option is nice because you can empty the pail daily or weekly, & you can customize the amount of bag you're tossing & you don't have to waste any refill bag.

Even during this changing, you don't get much of a smell. Of course, if you leave poopy diapers in a pail for a few days, you're going to smell something when you dispose of it, but it's minimal & never bothers me, my husband, or my 10 year old stepdaughter.

We've used the Dekor Plus for 8 months now, & we are only on our 2nd box of refills. Each box has 3 "refills" & we're on the 2nd bag of our 2nd box. So these last a very long time!

This system is absolutely the best one on the market. You would be foolish not to get it!

3Not bad, but not great  Jun 04, 2002

I've had the opportunity to use the Diaper Genie, the Diaper Champ, and this product. The Diaper Genie was actually the easiest to use and kept the odor to a bare minimum. Using the Dekor is a little awkward, especially if it is full, since tying the bag up by hand can be a pain. Also, when inserting diapers, it's easy to get a "noseful" when inserting a fresh diaper, since all the dirty diapers are in the same space and the device opens briefly. The Genie, on the other hand, seperated the individual diapers with twists in the bag, creating a long diaper-link-sausage effect (ewww... a gross image, I know). The final twist when it's full makes it easy to tie off to. If you use cloth diapers, though, the Dekor is great; it holds a lot, and you don't have to untwist every diaper to wash them (or send them to the service).

5Best Diaper Pail Ever  Jan 07, 2004
By Lauren
I had heard many bad things about the Diaper Genie while i was pregnant, so even though it is so popular, i was hesitant to purchase it. I checked out the Diaper Dekor, and even though it was a bit more expensive, it looked nice & easy to use. I also noticed that the refil boxes were more expensive too..well, just today, i went out and bought a 2nd box of refills, i bought one box before i had my son,and it lasted 7.5 MONTHS!!!! We are so happy with this diaper pail.. we get NO smell what so ever.. i don't know what the other reviews are talking about that their diaper pails stink! You can't even tell we have dirty diapers in it! This diaper pail is the easiest thing in the world to use.. keeping a hand on a squirmy little one leaves little time to be messing around with the twisting & turning you have to do with the diaper geanie!! I also have 2 large dogs that LOVE trash, and they don't even bother with this diaper pail. I reccomend this diaper pail to EVERYONE. It's the best that you can buy.

5Absolute best, HANDS DOWN!!!  May 21, 2003
By April Chin
I've had my Diaper Dekor Plus for about a year now, and used it for my 2 yo son before our new baby arrived. Even with the big diapers toddlers can fill, I did not need to put a new bag refill in until my baby was a couple months old. After the baby was born, he slept in our room and so I had the diaper pail in there for convenience. Even with it RIGHT NEXT to our bed, there was NO smell! We've tried others and were never satisfied, they'd stay in the bathroom to try to minimize the smell.

The diaper dekor is very easy to use, the refills last forever, I've only changed it once, and my baby is now 7 mos old. The bags hold a lot of diapers, even with the amount of diapers newborns go through, I only needed to change it once a week or so. It's VERY easy to change as well. Someone mentioned it stinks when changing, well, obviously you still have to deal with poop at some time. But to really REALLY cut down on that, after opening the door, grab the bag at the top and twist before removing it from the base, then cut the top and go from there. It's no harder to get used to doing that than it is getting into the routine of changing diapers in the first place.

I cannot say enough about this pail, there is nothing bad about it AT ALL that I can think of, and I've used it for a long time now. I'd give it 10 stars if I could, it's just that great. PLUS, I like the fact I can still use it after the baby's done with it, and it's such superb quality that it'll last for the next couple kids too!!

WONDERFUL!!!

GREAT PRODUCT!!!

MUST BUY FOR ALL PARENTS OF BABIES & TODDLERS!
