 It's turtles all the way down Nov 22, 2011

Our baby's enjoyed this mobile very much. After a few weeks of extremely light use, the turning mechanism broke, but Carter's mailed us a new one a few days later in response to our email, and now it's turning like a champ. As with a lot of Carter's mobiles, the turtles bump into the frame, but that's actually a good thing because it makes the turtles spin, which baby just loves.
The turtles themselves are a very nice soft knit in pretty, muted, gender-neutral pastels. The canopy needs a bit of an iron to lie flat, though. It's probably too expensive, both here on Amazon and in the store where we got it, but the customer service and the attractiveness of the mobile compared to its more plastic/bright counterparts has made up for that.
The major downside to this (and to most mobiles) is that it only runs a few minutes before you have to wind it up again. For the price, one might expect a battery-powered on/off toggle.

We bought this mobile because it goes with the nursery theme. The cons were it was easy to put together, the turtles are absolutely adorable and the music box has a "pause" switch to stop the music if you wanted to. The cons were attaching the mobile to the side of a sleigh style crib isn't completely compatible. There's a slight tilt but because the music box and turtles are hanging on a hook, it doesn't affect it's alignment. The mobile doesn't lean over enough where the baby can look directly up at the turtles, he has to bend his head backwards a little. Also, the skirt of the canopy doesn't lay the way it's suppose to because of the rods inside stretches it and makes the skirt of the canopy "flop upwards". I give it a 3 star because the price could've been less for what we bought it for.
