Saved My Sanity Oct 16, 2008

I have a one year old baby who has had yeast problems nearly from birth. At one point she had angry, red yeast rashes in her diaper area, under her chin, in both armpits, and behind both ears. I took her to the doctor time and again and tried every anti-fungal and antibacterial cream they recommended. While some worked for a short time, none of them delivered lasting results. I was going crazy trying to solve this problem. I read that talc powder works really well and it does. Of course, even the product label talks about the inhalation risk to babies (not to mention the risk of ovarian cancer). I tried a cornstarch powder thinking I would get the benefit of powder without the risk of talc. Turns out cornstarch is a food source to yeast. Who knew? When I found this powder it was as a last resort. I loved that it was talc-free but still offered anti-fungal protection. After using this powder regularly my baby no longer has yeast rash. She is completely cleared up. Any flare ups are quickly taken care of by a thick coating of this powder. California Baby succeeded where every other prescription drug failed. I can't say enough about how much I love this product. Worth every penny!!!!

As Used By An Adult Jan 15, 2008

As an adult user ;) , I'm very pleased with California Baby's Non-Talc Powder. I use it after showering, and especially like its anti-fungal (tea tree)/anti-bacterial properties (lavender), added extras not found in the other after shower body powders i've used. Powder goes on smoothly while dispensing just enough per "shake".

Not California Baby's Best Product Nov 11, 2007
By elviswoman I have tried several of California Baby's products and I would call myself a huge fan of this line. The ingredients are indeed healing and non-allergenic which are extremely important to me, and these products have helped me clear up some moderate skin problems that both I and my baby have experienced.
This particular product, the "Calming Non-Talc" powder is a great idea. But the actual product itself is kind of clumpy. When you use any powder for the purpose of what you would use a "Talc" powder for (wicking moisture, cooling, chafe prevention), it needs to be fine so you can easily apply it and spread it over the area that needs treating. With this particular product by CB, I notice as I am spreading it over the treatment area that there are little clumps which either are a result of picking up moisture OR are a consequence of one of the ingredients. No matter, it still is irritating and annoying to drag lumpy bits of powder across angry skin.
Second, this is a very small package and the product comes out of it almost too easily. I feel like you don't get enough product for what you are paying and you wind up wasting product to get it out of the packaging.
That said, it does smell very nice and appears beneficial when applied to heat rash. We have just learned to sprinkle and leave the area alone instead of smoothing it out to avoid the lumpy drag effect.
I can't give my recommendation for this particular product. But I am extremely pleased with the calming diaper area spray, the calendula diaper cream, and the calming shampoo & body wash products. They have cured diaper rash problems for us, as well as allergic skin inflammations and dry cracked hands that are victims of frequent washing.
The ONLY powder I can and will use on my baby's bottom Jan 23, 2012
By dmama My little guy drinks a lot and therefore gets very wet diapers. This leads to rashes and sensitive skin on his bottom. He also tends to soak through diapers at night, which means he has wet skin for sometimes hours at a time. I've tried so many baby powders and creams that I feel I can say without hesitation that this is the best on the market. It goes on soft and smooth. It has a nice gentle fragrance that doesn't overpower you. It dries the skin without drying out the skin. On existing rashes, it clears them without hours. It prevents rashes like a dream. Yes, this is among the most expensive of the options out there, even among the "natural" brands. But I happily pay it knowing my little guy is pain free, dry and happy.
great powder but pricey Dec 30, 2011
By astase I love the texture and scent of this powder. I do think people should know that it does contain tea tree oil which is a phytoestrogen, so if you are buying it to avoid phthalates and synthetic fragrances, you will be getting this instead. It has a nice drying effect, and is silky to the touch. I do think it helped clear up my baby's diaper rash.
