2Good performance, Poor breakdown and horrible for travel  Sep 08, 2009
By MJMay
Before anyone purchases this stroller, I think they need to seriously consider how the stroller will be used. If you live in an urban area and always keep this stroller assembled...it would be a great stroller. If you live in a suburb, or your primary form of transportation is a vehicle, this stroller is a very poor choice. It breaks down into three pieces, and does not do so easily. There is nothing one-handed, or quick about the break down for transport. So, before you buy this stroller because it is the cool one, or the luxury one the celebs have, be honest about its limitations.

A few other Pros & Cons...

Pros
- Incredible ride & suspension
- Bassinet option allows you to use it for an infant
- Frame can be used with a Graco Carset...with the purchase of an additional adaptor
- Adjustable seat - child can be completely reclined, semi-upright or fully upright...and you can face them forward or backwards
- Adjustable handle - very important if you are taller
- Excellent break. When its on, the stroller does not move at all
- Very well-made & sturdy

Cons
- Price - for the unit & every accessory is an additional cost
- Dis-assembly...I cannot underscore this enough!! It is not easy or quick. Nor can you do it one handed. If you are trying to do so while wrangling a child, it is impossible.
- It breaks down into 3 pieces...the wheeled base, the overall seat base or bassinet, & the padded cresent-shaped bar/handle. This would make it impossible for airplane travel. Unless, of course, you purchase the $150 carrying bag.
- Fully-Assembled Size...this is a big stroller, especially when you use the bassinet
- Folded Size - it is NOT compact
- Every accessory is sold separately - even the cup holder
- Bassinet has limited use, and then requires a lot of storage space after you switch to the seat
- Shoulder straps are rather flimsy and really long. At the absolute shortest, they are huge on my 10-mo. old
- Bottom storage basket is difficult to get things in & out of, especially if you close it with the drawstring cord
- Canopy is too big for the upright seat - if you want your child to see anything, you have to have the canopy half closed
- Weight limit of 40 lbs, which is less than a lot of strollers

Once this stroller is assembled, it is a great stroller and rides incredibly well. It turns well and my son seems very comfortable in it. However, we are suburbanites and the constant break down is a PAIN! After struggling with this stroller for 10 months and cursing it each and every time I have to get it in & out of my car, I bought a smaller stroller to have in the car for quick errands & travel. The Bugaboo still gets a ton of use around our neighborhood and for bigger outings, but I make sure the breakdown is worth it.

The stroller's performance is incredible and it definitely has some Pros, but be sure the way you will use the stroller is in synch with those Pros and you're aware of the limitations.

5The Absolute BEST Stroller on the market!!  Nov 01, 2007
By G. Johansson "ChicagoMom"
I bought the Bugaboo Cameleon about 2 years ago when I found out I was pregnant and have loved it since day 1. There are sooooo many reasons why but I'll list a few:
- I hear of parents who often have to get 2 or 3 strollers for thier kids because kids out grow them or they have broken, etc. You don't have to worry about that with the bugaboo. My daughter used it when she was an infant, baby and now as a toddler. It grows along with her.
- We're tall parents and the handle bars adjust a lot!! Other strollers are so uncomfortable for the parents to push, especially on long walks.
- When our daughter was an infant, she was way too small for her crib so we put the bassinet part of the bugaboo in our room and she slept in that for the first few months.
- I love that the Metropolitan car seat fits onto the stroller. A super convenience for those quick in and out visits to the store. Trust me, as a new mom I didn't realize how important this was until I had to make 4 stops in one day with a new born.
- I love that it's adjustable for the baby when sitting...meaning that she can sit straight up, tilt back slightly or completely lay down. My daughter is so comfortable in her stroller that she can nap inside her stroller when we are on long walks or out shopping.
- I also love that you can switch the seating so the child can face you or the opposite direction; same with the handle bars. It's great!
- Also, I love the attention we get when we are out around town. I have had soooo many people stop and ask us about our stroller. We had ours personalized with our last name embroidered on the top of the stroller.
If you are debating on whether or not getting the Bugaboo Cameleon, I woudl say GET IT! It is pricey but it's totally worth it in the long run and your child will love it too.

5Brilliant stroller  Oct 24, 2007
By Greenblat
The Bugaboo is much better than any other strollers on the market. It is stylish, very well designed and practical.

You only need to spend 30 mins in a baby store playing with other strollers to see that this one is superior in nearly every way to others.

I would highly recommend this stroller.

2Bugaboo poor quality  Apr 01, 2011
By A. Stäblein "AS"
We use the bugaboo cameleon with our third child now aged 6 months. Perfect stroller even for the small ones, it is easily disassembled for transportation. Different tops are exchangeable in seconds, we use that every day when changing from car transport of our children to walks starting from home (MaxiCosy ..). Front wheels are changeable for rough terrain.
The brake itself is fine, but the brake lever is badly constructed. Without too much force it breaks off. That would not be the problem, if the spare part would be availabe. It isn't.
You have to buy the complete base of the stroller. In Europe this costs about 250. Too much for a small spare part.
Therefore I can not fully recommend this technically nice stroller and would not buy it again.

3Good for infants, not toddlers.  Dec 28, 2007
By Paula
We purchased the Bugaboo frog three years ago for our son. We chose it based on its versatility, manuverability and design. It is small, compact and great in shops and restaurants. We loved it for the first 18 months. One major drawback is that you need two hands to unfold (assemble) it when you are putting it in or taking it out of your car. That can be a real inconvienience when you are dealing with a screaming infant. Also, after taking it out of the box I was dissappointed to discover that switching from the bassinet to the seat set up is quite an ordeal as you only get one frame and have to change the fabric. Changing over involves all sorts of velcro and snaps etc... it is definitely not something you want to be doing on a daily basis. Lastly the biggest disappointment was that our son although in the 90th percentile out grew it shortly after he turned two. We couldn't use the sun shade because it no longer cleared his head. Also when he swayed excitedly side to side in the stroller it was in real danger of tipping over due to the front swivel wheels. I really wish I had bought the mountain buggy instead because we would still be using it now. We landed up also having to buy a maclaren which we love!
