I noticed a strong smell when these sheets were new. It mostly went away after a couple washes, but the elastic still smells very rubbery. I'm not sure if it's latex, but the rubbery smell is always very noticeable after the sheets are unfolded. I wish they had used a less stinky elastic on these sheets.
