Typical MDB Product - Mislabeled Instructions! Jun 27, 2010

This unit arrived with a few scratches in the finish, not due to shipping. Some of the scratches will not be visible once in the baby's room, others I plan on retouching. Typical of MDB product...Altogether, the storage unit is fine.

Please note: In the instructions, the bottom panel diagram is labeled incorrectly. Images of the bottom and center panels should be switched. It was confusing at first, but once I figured out the error, everything else moved quickly. The initial confusion was definitely frustrating - MDB needs to correct this! I have designed and typed out thorough instructions in my line of work and this sort of thing is a problem.

These are great and sturdy units and I found the perfect baskets from the Land of Nod. Major problem though... the instructions are VERY confusing at first. Some of the parts are mislabeled and if the wooden dowels get put in the wrong holes, they are stuck there and then it needs to be replaced. I bought 3 and after I finally got the first one done, the others were a breeze. Also, the bottom panel on 2 of mine were wobbly. But I had such an issue getting replacement parts from the company, that I am just dealing with it.

I got this shelf because I needed some table space in our nursery but didn't have room for anything larger. It is the perfect overall size and height. It fits nicely next to our glider. It is very sturdy, much like the Kalani crib, and was easy to put together. Matches well with all the DaVinci espresso nursery furniture. My only complaint is that the cubes are only 1 foot tall and don't fit some of the books I have.

I have had this item set up with the base unit and door unit for about 9 months. The quality has been fantastic and it is a perfect storage unit for our three year old. The great thing is that this product is almost exactly like the system in Pottery Barn Kids, but at a fraction of the price. I would highly recommend this product.

These cubbies as well as the matching cupboard and drawer are made of cheap particle board with veneer that chips easily when assembling. The only solid wood is the thin trim piece along the top edge. Attractive once assembled, but I dont' know how long it will last in a boy's room. Very disappointed.
