In my family we strive to keep things, objects, at a minimum. And often I tell parents soliciting advice about what they "need" to prepare for an on coming baby is not available at babiesrmartdotcom, what you need is babysitters. Save all your money to have people helping you. And to allow you to have breaks and go have dinner, a weekend with your husband, things like that are what you "need."
I think most of the products targeted to baby parents are total scams but this is one that you really "need."
I've owned it, used it for almost 3 years, given it to a new parent, bought it again for my second child.
Both my sons are big, tall babies. This bouncy accommodates their size beautifully from birth to about 3 years. It's easily washable. For me not only does something have to be washable, it has to be easily washable. It must slip off with simplicity, go straight into a washer not requiring special care, cycles or detergent and drying method. Check. It's easily portable. Again. Many products out there advertise portability but I am not good with faulty plastic engineering and usually can't handle the acrobatics of most products. Again, this bouncy succeeds. It flattens, quickly and easily and fits in all trunks, can fit in a backseat. It gives your baby his/er's own space no matter where you go. We've taken this to the beach, parties, traveled with it, it goes everywhere. You instantly have a feeding chair, a picnic chair, a bed.
Great construction. It bounces smoothly and you can rock with your hands or feet (yes feet, you'll figure it out).

I have bought carriers, slings, swings, pillows... you name it and my infant hated them all. Finally I tried the Baby Bjorn babysitter and finally - like magic he bounces, sits, naps and plays (the wood toy accessory that you can buy separately is equally fantastic). I am so happy with this purchase! Spit-up wipes right off without staining. The baby slides in and out so easy but stays wonderfully secure when in place. I can't say enough good things about this seat. If your infant prefers sitting up to laying down, the babysitter is a god-send for those times you need to put the baby down. As an aside, the color combination is wonderfully neutral, I love it too.

 Great Bouncer, Questionable Company - Please Read On Mar 11, 2011

I have wanted this bouncer forever! We haven't used it yet, but it appears to be very high quality. It's surprisingly lightweight, and it really is easy to remove and reverse the cover and fold it flat, etc. It should be noted that the photos of the organic bouncer make it look like the fabric is almost iridescent, and not canvas like the original (inorganic) version. But the organic material is cotton canvas, as well. Also, the darker of the two colors is actually plaid, which I wanted to avoid completely. However, this plaid is actually pleasing, gender-neutral, and scarcely noticeable. I prefer the plaid side of the cover as well and the plaid side of the lap belt! I love that this seat has no batteries, padding (although there is some padding around the rim - this better not be polyester!), etc. I also love that it's 100% cotton so I don't have to worry about the risk of SIDS while baby is sleeping in this seat (we will have no polyester in the nursery for the entire first year if we can help it!). In fact, we may use it in lieu of a bassinet! Less really is more and I can't wait to finally use this seat!
UPDATE - I spoke with a representative of Baby Bjorn and the Babysitter Balance IS NOT 100% ORGANIC COTTON. The padding inside the rim of the seat is indeed polyester. This product is described as 100% organic cotton, and is also labeled as 100% organic cotton. When I asked the representative how there could be such a disconnect between the advertisement/labeling and the actual content, she provided a canned response about the portion touching the baby being 100% organic cotton. Perhaps that is all they are required to disclose (I'm not sure because I've been too busy to look into it). It's not enough of a danger to make me want to return the bouncer (and good thing because she certainly didn't offer that as an option), but I am making a mental note that Baby Bjorn is not a full-disclosure (i.e., trustworthy) company and is only as good as the requirements it is subject to - I mean, how hard is it to disclose the truth in this situation, and why would they not? What a shame.

I purchased a bouncer for my daughter in 2008 with the expectation that it would last. After a little more than eighteen months of gentle use the toggle attachment become loose. I put the bouncer aside as my daughter was now walking and did not give it any more consideration. I am expecting my second child any day and contacted baby bjorn with the intention of purchasing a cover to replace the one that had broken. i was informed that they did not carry my line of bouncer, though the new bouncers are clearly compatable with the frame i have from '08. For a rather pricey item, it seems like there is a measure of planned obsolescence in the manufacturing of these babysitter balances.

Worth the money Nov 03, 2011

We borrowed one of these from our neighbor and ordered our own a couple days later. Our baby, who HATES being put down, loves sitting in this thing. The design is really simple and ergonomic, and I love that it has no ridiculous features and just does what it is supposed to do really well. I would recommend borrowing one first because they are not cheap, but it has been well worth the price. He loves being in it, I think its pretty and I don't mind having it in my living room (not the case with all baby gear) and it allows me to shower and do chores without listening to him shriek. I highly recommend this bouncer.
