 Perfect for swaddling a newborn Aug 01, 2009

I bought this blanket and several other receiving blankets in anticipation of our baby. This blanket was perfect and the only one that worked for swaddling. It is large and stretchy enough to swaddle with, but it is also breathable and pretty soft. I just bought three more.

This is a good all-purpose blanket. It is not big enough to use for swaddling, but it is a good size for the extra blankets in the diaper bag or for putting over the baby in the car seat. Very soft and snuggly.

We use this for our 19 month old's naps. He is usually in a sleeper and gets too hot in a heavy blanket. It's a nice, soft, cotton blanket. Very happy with it and bought another.

This item indicated that it should be washed with like colors only which is understandable. However, even doing that, the incredible amount of lint that came off in the wash was outrageous! I had to shake all of the items that I washed with this before I could place them in the dryer and even then I checked my dryer twice to make sure the lint trap wasn't too full (I did empty it once). I also had to vacuum my floor because the lint was all over the place. In itself, it's a nice soft blanket, although I doubt if it will be very warm. Next time I wash it though I will wash it by hand and hang it to dry.

So much for my "Made in the USA" Christmas plans. When this blanket arrived, I discovered to my dismay that it's made in China - that despite the fact that it's from the "American Baby Company". Although my small efforts to boost American manufacturing were thwarted, what's worse is that the blanket smells unpleasant. I've washed it five times in a row and it still has a strong smell. Makes me wonder if it's 'organic' the way it is 'American'. I won't be using this blanket. On the plus side, it's held up well to the repeated washing.
