Helpful Jun 26, 2010
By Reviewer555 For the breast feeding mother, this is a helpful tool. In my opinion this item is only used until you purchase an electric pump. Do yourself a favor and purchase the electric pump. This item performs well, but it is manual, if you pump daily you will quickly wish you had the electric pump.

Great hand pump! Jun 28, 2010
By soljeanric I prefer this hand pump to an electric pump and any other hand pump. Easy to use and gets the job done! It made pumping comfortable when I couldn't nurse. Love it!!

Great Pump! May 04, 2009
By Mom of 3 in AZ This is a good one hand pump. I have used the Medela pump in the past, but it is difficult to use with one hand. If you are trying to take advantage of baby nursing on one side and pumping the other, this pump works perfectly. The quality isn't on the high end, but it definitely does the job and I prefer it over my Medela hand pump.
Kinda works, but is uncomfortable Apr 12, 2012
By Mary C April 12, 2012: three stars I got the manual Ameda pump through another website, so I am only commenting on the product, not the seller. I just finished using this pump for the first time, and I wanted to let others know that it's not as comfortable to use as other manual pumps I have used. The pump works with squeezing action, kind of like those hand exerciser things (you know what I mean?). Anyway, the squeezing action is not easy to keep up if you have carpal tunnel or any wrist strain from working a desk job like I do. I only got one ounce this time around. I much prefer the action of the Medela Harmony manual pump. I don't like how hard that one is to clean, though.
The reason I bought this pump was because I have the Ameda Purely Yours double electric pump, and I wanted a manual option to take on an international trip that could use all of the spare parts that I have already. That way, I can spend less time cleaning it. The only thing that's different with this pump from my electric pump is the green handle part.
Pros: Coordinates with electric pump parts Easy to clean Compact
Cons: Strains the wrist and hand (this alone makes me dock it two stars) *may* not be as effective as other manual pumps (will see in the morning)
Did not work! Feb 29, 2012
By CJD I ordered this manual breastpump for an upcoming vacation. I did a test run with the pump before leaving and not only was my hand exhausted after using it, I also barely got any milk out, about half an ounce. I just figured that since I had been spoiled by my electic pump for 4 months that I just needed to practice using the manual more and that evenutally I would get the hang of it. Well sadly, this never happened. I used my pump several times over vacation and still was unable to get any milk out, I even tried waiting until my breasts were really full to use it! I eventually gave up trying on this pump and I'm looking into returning it. Very disappointed in my first Ameda purchase =(
